Car Dealership Introduction Letter

Post by Onsite »

Well I sent out an introduction letter about my company and my services to about 20 car dealerships in the area and I sent them out last Friday.Along with the letter I placed a business card magentic in the envelope with the letter.

And I got my first call back from one of the dealeships requesting my company to do some repairs.Iam curoius to see how many more dealerships will respond.

Shawn,
It's great that you received a call back from one of the dealerships, however, I'm curious why you did not personally visit each dealership instead of mailing letters?

Dave,
Very good point. I did go around in person and talked to some of them. But actually my game plan is going to be to follow up with a visit in the next day or two after they have all received the letter.

I usually go in person but I think that this is a good idea. I hope you follow up and the letter is an intro for you to get the business you want!! Good luck.
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

Some dealerships you will deal with the GM but most you probably will deal with the used car manager.(at least in our area) The front of house is one source of work at a dealership but do not overlook the back of house, AKA...the service dept. for additional possibilities.

Nothing is better than a personal visit and being persistant In my 20+ yrs in the auto sales buisness I dont know a gm or sales mgr who would bother to read a letter from a WR guy maybe in a small area that isnt currently seeing one on a regular basis but its unlikely. These guys see someone new every week vendors pop up selling the oddest things as well as the dozen new glass and bumper painter dudes that show up weekly. that said ou got a response great but in your face contact is your best option. Also when your in the buisness (autosales) you can always tell the neww guy who really doesnt know what he is doing in WR he comes in tells you the benifits of WR (like evryone who has been in the used car buisness over 20 minutes doesnt know that already) and then offers to give you a demo to show you the amazing new service he has lol
My advice go in be likeable have already walked the lot and made a note of which cars need work give him a price that you will fix the bunch for if he does it now! look him right in the eye and wait for an answer the first guy who speaks loses if he says no come back next week and do the same thing trust me he will eventually give you the buisness keeping it just as hard

I personally like glasstarz approach.Make sure that you are confident of what you do.Be nice but don't kiss butt and be too persistant or desperate looking to get work.My old boss in the body shop hated sales people like that and almost never gave them the time of day.
