Coming from a background in aviation, any time there is a crack that is within limits in a paticular area we always stop drill to relieve stress and terminate it. Obviously safety is first concern. Now on an automobile, while being a different mode of transportation, much like an airplane, it is exposed to many stressors that can affect a crack. For me, Passenger safety is no less here. I always stop drill and anchor for the same reasons. It is our first priority to guarantee a structurally sound repair, and secondly to provide the best cosmetic outcome we can. Not the other way around. This is our view, we feel it is the correct way for us but realize it is not for everyone.
