Hello all...

I know several of you folks run tents/canopies on a regular basis.

I thought it might make an interesting thread if some of us post a picture
of our tent set up. You know... just to see what other folks are doing.

To help motivate you guys... I will start it off...

Here is a picture of my tent set up at a new location I secured. This
is at a very busy intersection on the nice side of town. It also happens to
be right between TWO major interstates... about 2 blocks on either side.

Hopefully I will get better results in this part of town... My results around
my town have been less that spectacular. Maybe that will change with this
better location. So far I have had gobs of people "sniffing me
out"... Hopefully this coming week I will see some business. I just started
at this location Thursday...

Pardon the low quality pic... It's a still taken off of a VHSc camcorder
so it doesn't look super. I know the tent looks a lil lopsided...
The pavement is sloped towards the road which makes it lean a lil.

The banners say "Free (15 min) Windshield Rockchip Repair"
The little sign on the bottom left says "While U Wait"

There are banners on 3 sides strung up with bungee cords and I use
American Flag stringers in various ways (as seen swooping under the
banner). There's also an American Flag on the front facing traffic on each
side at the very top.
I look forward to what everyone else is doing... Let's see those pics!

Have a great weekend!

I used to use a tent and still do but very, very rarely. The Dallas area has ordinances about using tents. They don't let you, so you have to do it on the weekends if you do. I will send you a picture of my set up the next time that I set one up. I use streamers (red, white&blue) around the tent and I put a american flag pole up attached to the side of it. I really like your set up. Also my sign says STOP FREE WINDSHIELD REPAIR (with insurance coverage).

Thanks for the reply David... I look forward to seeing your setup.
Ordinances around here are kinda funny... In the city they raise
all kinds of stink about whatever they can. I always make sure my
tent is located just outside the city line. County is fine with about
anything... They are not as rediculous as the city is.

Come on guys... I know there are more folks running a tent than
this...

Get out your cameras and snap a pic or two... Let's see what ya got! :D

Why do you find it necessary to use a tent on the side of a road or in a parking lot? Have you not been in this business long enough for repeat retail customers or accounts that call you when needed...fleet,dealerships,rental agencies or word of mouth?
I don't want to sound rude or crude but whenever I read about someone in the same business as myself (11 years) using a tent on the side of a road, the first thought that comes to mind is "Roses,$5.00 a dozen".
It's a roadside stand!!

mepoozer: you must have your pic uploaded onto some kind of website... any of the free website places should work if you down have a site.

Then you just paste the URL into a message, highlight it, then click the
button that says "Img".... Thats about it... :D

Dave M:

Thanks for taking the time to reply Dave... Nothing wrong with wanting
to learn.

"Why do you find it necessary to use a tent on the side of a road or in a parking lot?"

1. Not necessary... It's a fun way of reaching clients that may never
know about you to begin with.

2. Once I have the concept tuned to work in this area... I will begin to replicate the tents in other parts of town and surrounding areas. This will not only multiply my profit but will help create work for others.

"Have you not been in this business long enough for repeat retail customers or accounts that call you when needed...fleet,dealerships,rental agencies or word of mouth?"

Why of course... In fact I go so far as to dominate most of the major
search engines for any search related to windshields in my region. I
am working on reducing my wholesale work and focusing more on the
retail marketplace. Most of the general public simply doesn't know
about WSR... They need to.

"I don't want to sound rude or crude"

Then don't

"the first thought that comes to mind is "Roses,$5.00 a dozen".
It's a roadside stand!!"

Yes it is. You may be surprised how well those rose stands do! In fact...
some of the best produce can be purchased at mom and pop roadside
stands around here... So what is wrong with making WSR as convenient
as getting a rose or a tomato on your way to lunch or home from work?

It may surprise you to learn that quite a few people have paid big dollars
for WSR tent franchises.... no kidding. In fact, if you visit the link below
you will notice that they use Delta Kits in their package.
