i have a good method to preserve the life of the drill bits
i have a good method to preserve the life of the drill bits.first i clean the burs on a ultrasonic cleaner, next i place all the burs inside a small plastic bag with a very small amount of motor oil.i personaly use a syntetic one(amsoil)for me is the best one.i believe the molecules of the oil bonds over the drill bits.when i use them believe me folks go over and over again without fail.

Make sure there is no oil on the bit when drilling. I use the drill on most repairs mainly in place of a scribe but also to drill and pop when required. A bit will last me about
33,000 + screen repairs over 18 years and still learning.

I'm probably getting about 5 holes out of a bit. That's about $.20 per hole. A small cost for my $65 fee.

why go through the trouble of putting drill bits in a bag with motor oil.Thats just to much of a hassle when you can get 100 bits from delta for a small fee

Glass dust actually melts to the bur during drilling, clogging the serrated edges. I heat the end of the bur with a cigarette lighter after every repair and wipe clean with a paper towel. In our testing this process increases the bur life by several hundred percent.
However, I do believe that you should always use a sharp bur as using a bur too long may result in breakage or skipping, and we no lika dat.
