I am looking at setting up windscreen repair business un U.K and needed info on companies who deal with insurance billing in U.K???

Also can you recommend which is the best kit to go for???????

Curious, why would'nt you contact your insurance companies and find out who they use to process there glass claims? Then you would get all the accurate details to all your questions. When possible there is no substitute for getting it straight from source.

In answer to your question, trying to speak to an insurance company in the UK is harder than getting blood out of a stone. I would say that more than 95% of the insurers in this country steer their customer towards the 2 big replacement companies, that say they do screen repair (read that carefully).

I am in the enviable position to have been around this job long enough to be an approved supplier to a few companies and the agents. However I do not pass this information on until the person requesting it has been trained by us.

There are guys over here that are going out and wrecking this trade daily, standing in car parks srewing insurers on little or no training.

I saw a major firm out doing the carparks and stopped and introduced myself to them, it was raining and I asked them how they got the damage dried out. They showed me the UV lamp and said after they had filled the chip they shined that on it. When I said its raining they showed me a paper towel they dry the screens with.

I had 2 guys in for training and after 2 hours I threw them out they now use all that knowledge, which is very little to train other guys.

The insurance market in the UK for independants and some franchise guys is shrinking. Luckily enough there is a better and more lucrative market out there.

That was not a post trying to imply you would not have the answers. You have been very helpful to your countrymen and abroad. I was just curious why someone would not contact the direct source for the most accurate details no matter how hard it is. We have the same streering concerns here in the USA but nonetheless if you want to be part of the insurance game you will need to make contact with the networks one way or another.

No offence taken, the insurance industry over here is very hard to penetrate most will certainly not reply to letters and the only phone numbers you can obtain are for call centers in places like India. If you invoice a company direct they will often pay the customer not you. Although legaly you are allowed to have your car repaired at a place of your choice, however if you do they like you to pay up front and claim it back. The UKs biggest insurer has just dropped the amount they pay for repair by 20% that is not encouraging us to do more repairs.

As you might have seen in my post my real gripe is with inexperienced people getting our trade a bad name. Some of the people I have spoken to in the insurance industry lately are starting to see screen repair as a waste of money, due to the failure rate and customers unhappy with the quality of the work, wanting a new screen a month or so after it was repaired.

Two bites at the apple for some people, but not the repair only guys.

Lets get the quality up not the prices down.

is there any info you can provide regarding insurance billing companies? I am setting up to perform good quality repairs and not just to take adavantage also any suggestions on which is the best kit to go for???
