Re: headlight restoration tips and advice..
Just thought I would add to this thread.Dvelp contacted me with answer to my question if I could just buy their Top coat Slicker as they call it.They said only if I was doing headlights the "Dvelp way"They say that you have to also buy the Clear Wipe as an activator/ final cleaner for their product to work.$63.98 for 2 8 oz cans 1 of each.I wonder if the clear wipe is maybe an alcohol product??Any answers ??any way you have to buy both products then they send you instructions as how to use.Nanotech replied to me also and said you could clean lens with rubbing alcohol as long as your final buff compond was non silicone before appling their product.See above post for pricing. Now what??Rightlook or Nanotech or Dvelp???????????Inputs as to what works best for you??Why its best ect. we want to know..........harrellbenjamin;21611 wrote:Ok, here is the pricing for Nanotech 30ml (about 1 oz) $50.00 100ml(3.4 oz) $90.00.The rep said you need to have the lens free of all polish /wax residue before application or use their polish $100.00 per liter (concentrated)mix 1 to 1 with distilled water. But on the other hand the Rightlook sealer is $19.99 for 8 oz.Both from what the techs on this forum say last approx. 2 years.I also Emailed the IPS co last night and a rep called me and left 2 messages on my voice mail. They were the only one not to send info return by email.I think I know where his pitch is going. Dvelup wants to sell me a complete chemical refill kit for $115.00 after I plainly requested pricing on the slicker/top seal only. After looking at their "special polishing tool" ( a $29.95 Harbor Freight buffer,I know I own one!!) with 3" buff pad for $139.99 I can see where they are going also. Now I feel its down to Nanotech or Rightlook. The question I need answered here is if you use Nanotech will the 3m nonsilicone compound I use have to be cleaned from the lens with what???before appling the Nanotech.I know I should have asked rep but he said use has $100.00 polish.I am open to both ideas but the Rightlook is looking better all the time.Comments??????????????

k9mkt, In your post #65 it appears (to me) you said nanotec was like a liquid wax or vinyl protector, which with your posted credentails there in #70 you know that is not the case. SORRY if I offended you with my post. My intent was to stand-up for a product I use and believe in.

K9mkt which of the polisher do you use? I like the CY-3830, I could use it in interior repairs also. Harrellbenjamin, you should call Dave at IPS and get a price on his kit. When you add up the cost of all the different products mentined in this thread, you could probably just buy his. With the amount of product you get in the kit you can do well over 100 lenses. I know because I have. Resuplying then wont be an issue. You can also rest assured that you have all the right equipment and supplies to do outstanding work right off the hop. I have no doubt that people have perfected their own styles. Bottom line, I just wanta give a great product, and make money! The IPS system does just that, You know the products work, so any problems you come accross are in the process. Oooo and buy the way, if ya wanta go to Flordia, IPS will train you for free. This reminds me of all the threads on which is the best resin. Why pay $50 an oz when I can buy this no namer for $10 off ebay. I dont mind paying for what is proven to work. JMO

I have been reading this post and am I seeing that you have taken it to a new level as to preserving the lights after restoring as to using lets say PLEXUS as I use?
I see there is a lot of trial and aireer.
I have been doing HL for over a year or so and have done some pretty bad ones. I will use my polyhog and I will do them by hand depending on how bad they are and how much time I have.
I have tryed to talk to IPS and he would not give me the time of day when I said I have been using the Poly hog....
I think I am damn good at that I am doing but would like to see what else is out there that could make me better.
The big Q is: Is what you all are doing and trying better than using PLEXUS?
Do they have samples to try out before you buy?
For what some of the prices that are talked about, are you still charging cheep prices or upen the price for the know how of the new products being used?
I charge a pritty penny for my work compair to the joe blow down the street that uses sandpaper or an arisal can to make it look good for 30 days.
I get calls from people that know Iam better then joe blow but are not willing to fork over the cash for the differance in workmanship.

Re: headlight restoration tips and advice..
Just curious what do you charge?? I am in the rural South and get 45.00 for dealers which is usually an add on job or two and I am already there doing w/shields. I charge $55.00 to $65.00 for retail customers. It has never no matter how bad a lens has been ,required more than 45 minutes to an hour max to get a "bling" finish on my lens.If you have any questions what I use read back through the forum.I think the answer to your question is the same one I was seeking .How long will it last ? I believe the plexis works great(I have used it) but would have to be applied every couple of months just like all plastic polish. The other products talked about on this forum seem to last about 2 years according to the Co. Reps.Nanotech , Rightlook, Dvelup. One of these will fill your need. You just have to decide what method(product) most compliments your methods.Hope this helps. Re: headlight restoration tips and advice..
I don't know about Rightlook or Dvelup, but Nanotec won't work with plexus. You must have a clean, dry surface free of silicone and wax. My experience with plexus and kleeer finish (what IPS use to use a plexus type product) is after 1 or 2 car washes it was gone no matter how hard I buffed it in.
Re: headlight restoration tips and advice..
Sounds like plexis and kleer finish is just a glorified wipe on wipe off wax or silicone type product which is not what we are looking for here.I still think it is narrowed down to rightlook or dvelup with IPS for you florida bound people.I'm leaning towards rightlook at this point in time so far.

toab, I think you're correct . I'm not sure exactly of what the contents are of either product but Kleeer Finish is the correct spelling. For research purposes
