Protective Coating?

Post by Shepard »

A Chevy dealership in my town is offering to apply a product to the outside of windshields. It is supposed to protect the windshield from rock chips & they offer to repair or replace the windshield if it gets a chip.

Have ya'll heard of this product? Does it work? How much of an impact do you anticipate it having on our industry?

It's more then likely a protective coating similar to the clear bra I have on my MINI. Which is another WONDEFUL idea, 34000 miles and not one chip. When the price goes down on the windshield one we may all be in trouble!

If you took your clear bra off you would see it not so clear to look through. Anyone want to buy some snake oil. This is basiacly an insurance sale, the product cost very little to apply and we all know that only about 1 in 6 shields are damaged each year, so the layout for the dealer is not a lot compared with income. You can also be sure there is a lot of get out clauses.

Its a protective film that is applied to the outside of the windshield it is heat shrunk and applied like clear bra protective film. It protects against stone chip damage. Water runs off so you dont need to use your wipers and bugs wash off easier Its not yet available in Canada
