I don't know if it will do any good but what the heck, it's free so nothing to lose. I also put the links to our local government in there in hopes people will stumble across me.

Hi Jerry,

I wouldn't suggest using the long url with all of the extra info in it. You can get a custom domain name such as "www.MartinsRockChipRepair.com" for very lttle. http://www.godaddy.com offers them for $8.95 per year (.75 cents per month). It'll look more professional on your business cards and in your ads. Once you get the domain name, you can forward it to your current site.

One can eliminate the "clutter" of ads that litter the free website pages created, by getting a paid website for as little as $4.99 per month from a third party.

.17 cents per day is a very small price to pay to project a professional image. These plans even come with easy to use online website builders. No software to download and install. No html to learn. Hundreds of templates to choose from. Graphics to use. In fact, more features than one will ever use.

Having a free site is better than nothing, but for less than $5.00, you can project an image that may just be the difference in 1, 5, 10 jobs per month.

There are many providers out there to choose from.

My favorite web hosting company is http://1and1.com

Domain name is $6 per year. Free private registration (if you don't want everyone to see your address). I have a hosting account for $3 per month with about 6 websites on the account.

Good stuff. I have all of my domains thru http://www.directnic.com not the cheapest but one of the best in my opinion. They have hosting for free with small banners or for $15.00 a month you can have bannerless. Here is my site hosted thru directnic for $15.00 it can handle a good amount of traffic
http://www.repairchips.net definetaley better to have your own domain but nice to start out for free and learn the ropes.

Jeff how much real business do you get off this website? What is the population of the area you serve.

Hello,, Jerry
I don't think I have gotten any business from it but I just think it makes you look professional to have one :) I would imagine someday I will get a sale from it but as of now don't think I have. I have my web address on my truck but it is wrong since I lost my .com and had to buy .net. If you get a domain do not let it laps past the year mark. There are some companies out there that buy thousands of expired names just to hold them. I contacted the company that purchased mine and they wouldn't sell it for less than $900.00 I told them to bite my ass and just purchased .net but I still haven't changed the .com to .net on my vehicle. The population in the county I am in is around 150,000. Sorry for the long post just bothered by the whole idea of losing my .com name.
