Another Long Crack Question

Screenman does PDR work, etc. so I assume that he carries a lot of equipment, and he probably has garages. But you're a mobile tech. What type of equip do you have for compressing air?

Well there are a few ways to clean out cracks. The easyest way is to use Isopropen Alcohol and an air compressor. As you spray the alcohol into it use a air compressor to blow out the dirt and alcohol.

Could someone please explain to me the proper way to apply and use alcohol when drying out a break.

Well the simplest way is to have the alcohol in a little eye dropper. Put a few drops into the chip, thats all. Its really simple, then use your drystar (moisture evaporator) and walla. Its dry.

The compressed air works great.

At the moment I'm looking at working out a way of using my mobile charger which has a small compressor built into it for inflating tyres.

I'm looking to find an adapter so that I can fit my air gun (blower) to it, hence no need to carry a big compressor in your boot.

Any suggetions would be welcome.

I doubt your mini tire inflator will work but you can make an adapter from a tire valve stem, just unscrew the insides of the stem and remove and then you have a straight blow by. Hope this helps.

How many people here use a hand held injector for long cracks? Some say this technique works better because you wouldn't flex the glass with the injector body, and no need for cup glide..any thoughts?

I have used both ways. The hand held injector is fine for the edge of the break, however as you get toward the point the crack closes up. You will need to slide your injector. Its really a matter of prefferance, sliding though allows you more options and you can always walk away from the break for a few minutes and let the resin work its way in.

There comes a time that When a crack gets to old it just is not going to get clean enough to make an acceptable repair even when applying the technique mentioned here because as time marches on these contaminent residues just become more stubborn to remove resulting in a too visable repair and an unhappy customer.Gotta know when to walk away.A few quick bucks now may result in alot of missed bucks in the future.
