Getting Insurance referrals
Getting Insurance referrals
I make a pretty good living working with fleets and car dealers. I am trying to get into insurance repairs. i signed up for Eglass and got all the networks set up. It has been two months, no referrals. I have had everything checked and double checked, nothing. I know it is a bad time here in the N.E., but not one? Do you go to insurance companies and do PR or what? Many wrote on here that they just did the sign up and the referrals started coming. I never believe that you get anything without working for it. I just wondered what most have experienced. The cold weather here right now is a good time do do some leg work, I just want some direction so I can work smart.
Re: Getting Insurance referrals
Did you sign up for the networks? If so did you properly fill in the information in Lyns's Metryx sysytem, coverage area, Liability ins and so on? Please remember most networks and insurance co. must see that you have been in business for atleast one year.
I myself do not wait for network referals, Go out and talk with potential clients, if they have comp. insurance and their deductible is covered, CALL IN THE CLAIM YOURSELF!!!

Re: Getting Insurance referrals
Oh yeah, all signed up. I have set up METRYX. I have over two years certifiable experience. I have had LYNX check my info. It is all there. I have coverage range and insurance. I have it all done. Just no referrals. Do you call on agents? I know they cannot directly refer but they can give out names.
Re: Getting Insurance referrals
I have called on agents before however I prefer to Coitster approach to gaining new business.
btw you didn't say, how many other repair shops are in your area?

Re: Getting Insurance referrals
Most states its not legal for an agent to reffer the customer to anyone. As far as insurance refferals from the networks dont hold your breath if you want ins work you have to go out and get it cold calls on real estate agents etc walk the prking lot make a list and go inside and ask who owns the car dont go in first and ask if anyone needs a chip repaired the answer will be no but if you go in and ask who owns the red ford they will bring that person to you. Hey mr customer im early for an apoint down the street and have some time to kill noticed you had a chip I can fix it now and do you know that most ins companies pay for them so its free to you? bingo 9 out of 10 will say yes
Re: Getting Insurance referrals
The same thing is happening to me. I have done everything AGSS has done and not one referral in the past three months and I belong to just about everything.
There are so many roaches standing on corners with their $10.00 rockchip repair signs that a person would rather pay that then make a insurance claim.
It may not be in your area yet but wait a few more months.
Then "look out."
Here's proof.

Re: Getting Insurance referrals
The more competition you have (repair shops), the less often your name pops up. The networks, supposingly, have a rotating system. In December, I lowered my fee $5 for Allstate and State Farm's going rate. Since then I have picked up a few more referrals each month. Not a lot, but enough to off-set the $5 drop. You may want to try this approach. If you're not satisfied you can change back after 90 days.

No you didn't just say 'roaches'
Like it or not America is the land of Free Enterprise. If these people ( and we have them here too) want to offer there services for $10 thats them, not me! Maybe they can live on $50 a day, not me! But what they sell there service for has nothing to do with me. If they are, however an illegal business, than something can be done just contact the liscense and permits office of your local city hall. If they are a legal business, you have to be a better salesperson and more creative.
I do this from time to time, a new company calls on one of my fleet clients with a better price, does a free repair. That repair better look a whole lot better than mine or my price may go up!

Do not wait for work go out and find it, if you do this correctly you will not want the hassle of one off insurance jobs sending you all over the place. Big waste of time in my opinion. Find the places where you can do 4 or 5 jobs at a time.
