Wow that is good marketing, as far as I know Rainx has never taken money out of my pocket. It is certainly not something we have any problem with. Still you pay your money and makes your choice. Over here this product would compare with snake oil.

RainX has never stopped me. A little alcohol on a Q-tip and I'm on my way.

I don't understand why any surface treatment should prevent or hamper a chip repair. We put resin below the surface and the pit or drill hole is not a treated surface. If the treament was a very good UV barrier then the internal repair may not cure (UV lamp on inside of screen! quality training...not! ), but the pit area will cure.

rainx = silicone. Everybody knows nothing sticks to silicone.

"rainx = silicone. Everybody knows nothing sticks to silicone." I'm happy to agree with that.
Now tell me how do they get Rain-x inside the break thus preventing anyone injecting and curing resin ?

Re: New X-PHOBIC?
Acer, if the product is applied while there is an unrepaired stone chip, the product can be drawn into the damaged area hindering repair. May look OK when you are done but if it is there, it will not hold long term. During the life of the product, it is also possible that anytime the windshield is wet (car wash, rain, etc.), the product can contaminate the unrepaired chip as it breaks down.
The most noticeable problem with Rain-X is that the pit fill WILL NOT stick!!! Again, showing the issues that it creates.
Haven't tried X-Phobic yet but I am sure that our company will be testing it very soon.

Re: New X-PHOBIC?
sounds like an ok product but alcohol does work. the prob with alcohol is if the break is too big and sucks some into it theres a change for laminate breakdown. not that big of a deal but it can happen. if this product is safe on laminate then it will be good if the price is right. I HATE RAINX. i come across 1 and 10 windshields with rainx on them and i dont find out until im doing the pit fill! the bad thing is it doesnt just ruin the pit fill it also gets inside the break while your repairing it leaving little specs inside that look like dirt or air. I know its my fault because i should be asking first but i just dont think about it when im trying to get the repair going. i just have to clean the pit like crazy then try again.
