An Alternative To Dremel Drill?

Hi Guys

Just some questions to help me get started in theory. Thanks in advance.

1. I know Dremel is the No 1 brand to use as far as drills go in the UK/US but I am having difficulties sourcing for one. What model of Bosch or B&D can I use? I figure 5000 rpm should do it. is this ok?

2. What size carbide bits should I use. I find that .3mm is the smallest. Do these bits have a triangle end to it?

3. What sort of polish should I be using to finish off the repair?

Delta sells a great polish, I have used 3m fine compound in the past with great no problems. and at about

I would also ask the OG's to comment on their favorite speeds. I don't like 5k, 7500, 12,500 or 15k. I love 10k.

Delta has a great drill they will ship you better than the dremil

I've purchased my Dremel tools at Sears. It has 2 speeds, 6500/13000 and I bought different collets to allow for the drill bits. I use one for drilling and the other for polishing. I use Meguiar's mirror glaze polish # 20.
Regarding the polish......I had stopped using this over the counter brand because it contains petroleum distillates which one repair manufacturer said can harm the finished pit filler. However, I've gone back to using it because other techs have mentioned that it wouldn't harm the resin once cured.

you may not have noticed the guy lives in malaysia prob no sears there ;?) Delta and the others will ship anywhere I know wallmart has them also but again does he have one there? worst case buy online im sure it will get there

5000 rpm works for me and keeps the bur cooler.

I have to a agree with Eddie, 5000 rpm for me as well in short bursts. I drill only when necessary. I get approx. 7-10 uses before I switch.

Also, unless DK has switched, Dremel is the brand they resell. 5000-10000 cordless minimite is what I have.
