Coachb,
Dude I feel for you as I have been down that road before. Mine were so bad I had to go to a dermatologist and get some cortizone shots. You can only get 4 of these shots a year. I had been trying some CHEAPER resin when I first started. I only wear Nitrile gloves and have narrowed my resins to 3 major suppiers. I had spread the contamination to my door handles, steering wheel, etc. Stay away from snake oil resins.

Like GlasWeldTech,

I've also been down the same road. Only three years ago my hands were so bad I had to hire another tech to ride with me for 6 months just to keep my accounts going. What was worse, I also developed a new sensitivity to nitrile gloves! If it wasn't for help provided by one local pharmacist I would have called it quits. He located a vinyl surgical glove for me that has solved all my problems. What's even better, I purchase them at half the price of nitrile gloves!

Anybody interested in manufacture and product# just pm me.

I had and still have a problem with resin reaction and I use 8 mil.nitrile gloves they seem to help but the protection breaks down to soon need a more, chemical resistant glove but most are to thick and bulky.Save your money on the barrier creams they made it worst all it contains is dimethicone which is in most skin creams.

I certainly do not want to suggest not using all means of protection possible but I can not stand wearing gloves. Being a technician for almost 20 years, there is nothing like the true hands on feel. Some may know what I am referring to. That being said, I have been fortunate to tolorate the brand resin we use. What worries me more than the skin reation is the toxicology from prolonged exposure, including breathing the fumes.

StarQwest, I may be going out on a limb here but I do not think providing the supplier for the gloves would be a conflict of interest. After all the longer we stay healthy, the more supplies we will use.

Not all barrier cremes are equal! Here are the ingredients of a good one:
Component C.A.S. # WT.% OSHA PEL ACGIH TLV

Stearic Acid 57-11-4
Triethanolamine 102-71-6
Isopropyl myristate 110-27-0
Dimethylpolysiloxane 63148-62-9
Stearyl alcohol 112-92-5
Propylene glycol 57-55-6
PVP eicosene copolymer 28211-18-9
Ceteareth-20 68439-49-6
Cetyl alcohol 36653-82-4
Glycerine 56-81-5
Methyl paraben 99-76-3
Propyl paraben 94-13-3
Methylchlorisothiazoline 26172-55-4
Methyisothiazoine 2682-20-4

Nowhere do you see dimethicone.
Really, everyone should use a good barrier creme at least twice a day even if you don't have allergic reactions now. I know some technicians who only became allergic after 15 years in the business. Barrier cremes will also make it easier to clean your hands at the end of the day.

p.s. some people are extremely allergic to latex!

So DAVEYCREWCUT,whats the name of the barrier cream and where do we find it.
I have noticed that a lot of members of this forum have solutions to problems but hardley ever tell what they use are where you can get a certain product that they say is going to help .

as posted by Jeff, ages ago.. The only companies that are not allowed to be mentioned on this forum are those that have either threatened to sue us if their name is used, or who specifically request that we not have their name used. It's not Delta Kits' choice to exclude them, it's their choice.[END quote]

So, rather than take chances of offending any "companies/manufacturers" you will not see product names or company info posted.. It gets ped..

The only companies I feel that would not like to be mentioned on this forum are companies that have something to hide and then again what happened to free speech.
Tried Derma- shield it only made things worse, also it's main ingredient is Dimethicone which I have already said is in most hand creams and the hand creams even have a higher percentage of Dimethicone.

Its a very long story that goes back several years.. Trust me, when I say Everyone was walking on thin ice.. Jeff, made his choice and well stuck by it.. I made mine and well it cost me alot of money, but I'm still here and a little bit more street/legal wiser.. We all learned several things about it.. One is "there is no such thing as freedom of speech".. Someone, somewhere will be offended for you just thinking of saying it, and someone else well, they'll try to take what you said and use it against you.. So.. thats all I'm saying about it.
