First I'll hop on the plane next month to check out everything in person , then decide what to do before I relocate . I might even drive my C-camper from Conroe ,through Mexico,Belize,Honduras and Nicaragua to Costa Rica, which will take 4 weeks at the most if I take my time .This way I've my hotel with me and can load up my possessions, w/s repair kit and clothing asf. I'm checking the internet sites http://www.costaricaretireonss.com and http://www.liveincostarica.com for more info before I fly ! Also the book from Insiders Guide ,Choose Costa Rica for Retirement has a bundle of information about travel , investment and affordable living. It takes couples $1150 a month to live comfortable , medication is free , so is schooling for the kids ! Compare this with the USA and you wonder why y're still here .

Your plan sounds great to me, you have it all thought out, I like that you can work anywhere with just a toolbox of wsr tools, what could be easier.

$1150 to live comfotable looks Good, I hope WSR prices are decent.

Medication, are you saying all medical is free or just medication?

I wish you well in Costa Rica...

Havn't found out yet the charges on windshield repairs.
After enrolling with the Residents Association of Costa Rica (ARCR) for $50 to $100 membership per year , you pay the National Insurance Institute a monthly fee of $37 to $58 monthly depends how many members are in your family and receive free hospitalization .
With a typical policy 80% of medical costs are covered , according what I read in the Insiders Guide book .
Therefor I'll visit CR to ask around and find out in person the pros and cons before making the final move.
I make a business trip from a vacation trip, can't do any better.
