Union/Trade Association
Union/Trade Association
I decided to start a new thread with this subject because I think it is an important issue that we all face and something that we need resolution on in the future if we are going to advance and take back our business. :eusa_wall
Please this is not a NWRA bashing thread!
Inserted from Safelite thread:
I have to give Safelite credit for one thing. They have nego. much higher prices from their insurance carriers. I have done two SGC jobs this week and will be paid $65 for one and $63 for the other. They have a vested interest in getting insurance companies to pay more for repairs.(I don't know about replacements)
Here is the problem with Lynks and other networks, they don't care whether or not we get paid more money. They receive their commission for handling the dispatch and can care less whether we get $25 or $50 for our service.
So my question is how do we get Lynks and other neutral networks to nego. higher prices? Is this a job for the NWRA? Is their another organization out their fighting for our best interest? What is the NWRA actually doing for the technician? (This is not meant to bash or say NWRA is doing nothing)
Reguardless, what's your opinion on how we can get representation with the networks to resolve all these issues. We need a voice! Any ideas?

Re: Union/Trade Association
I like the concept and if I recall, DK had a sticky thread for DK users only to send in there information. I kind of thought that is where that was going(referral network) but only for DK users. I wonder what ever happened to that?

Re: Union/Trade Association
Let's try real hard to be logical here just for a moment.:eusa_thin Do you really think that DK has become the one of the leaders in the WSR industry by building there company around one employee? Not a chance, there are many great employees behind there success as with most companies. In corporate america we are all dispencable at any time.
Don't get me wrong Jeff is a good person and will do very well where ever he lands. I wish him the best of luck.

You gotta be kidding me here?
"only for DK users"
and "that Jeff is gone ?"
Jeff has been an integral part of this internet experience, but, is that why you come here?
THink about it?

My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!
While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

Remember, Rome is not build overnight either, all good things come slowly !
Re: Union/Trade Association
It's a pipedream that'll never happen. Interesting concept but reality bites!
Re: Union/Trade Association
Sorry, splitpit, but you may be wrong. I hope so. Chinese proverb:
"Those who say it can not be done should not interupt those getting it done."
So, let's get it done. All I am saying is Robin Hood presents a good question and hopes for positive input - maybe a good idea will pop up here that we can all benefit from. Naysayers not needed, thanks. So, gang, where do we speak as one? NWRA? I am not a member. Did not see the benefit... until now - if we can use it as a platform to bring about change as one voice. No answers here, but can't wait to hear from the wise...

Re: Union/Trade Association
Hi Gang,
Just my 2 cents...
We will miss Jeff...a little. I won't, personally, because I plan to keep taking his money at our poker games. If he ever stops coming to the poker games, however, I will need a raise.
I know that in the past, the NWRA has done exactly what you suggested. They lobbied for higher prices with Lynx Services. I know the NWRA isn't perfect (I am on the board of directors), but they are the only organization out there fighting to protect windshield repair from those who wish to restrict or eliminate windshield repair as an option to replacement.
I believe our situation is much like the replacement industry. We try to lobby for higher prices, but when the insurance industry does a survey and sees that a customer can walk off the street and you charge him $30 or $40 for a repair, it is pretty tough to convince Allstate that a repair is worth $75.
