Wouldnt accepting credit/debit cards be the way to go???
Re: How To Sell Cash Jobs
I'm with coister... sell em cash!
I have been in this biz since 2000. For a while I went through a spell where I focused on the "free repairs" and insurance crowd. What a pain...
Some of you may know I prefer to use suggestive language for my sales. IMHO it is far easier to sell cash jobs than insurance jobs. People always have resistance to anything that is free. I have found in my area that FREE repairs = sceptical custmers. As soon as you say FREE or "no cost to you" a mental wall goes up.
Here is the exact wording I use to handle the cost issue. This wording has closed more cash deals in the past year than I ever closed with "free repairs"...
Customer: "how much does it cost?"
ME: Well mr. XXXXX, most of my clients just choose to pay cash. They say it seems kinda silly to make an insurance claim for a measley $XX."
Customer: I agree, that sure does make alot of sense... let's do it.
DONE! set up your appointment or do your repair...
Working this simple phrase into your close will make you plenty of cash. It is designed to make it sound like everyone pays cash (they do now)... and it makes it seem like everyone thinks claiming it on insurance seems silly.
It really can be as simple as that.... now.... go get some cash!

Re: How To Sell Cash Jobs
I too only do cash jobs here in california, its much easier to get paid now instead of waiting a month or two. But when you accept checks from anyone and you think it will bounce just cash it at their bank. All checks should have the name of the bank on them and you don't have to have an account just as long as the person who wrote the check has an account there. If the bank tellers tell you have to have an account that is all bogus. I've done it lots of times before and they have cashed my checks with no problems.

Re: How To Sell Cash Jobs
Great post Coitster!! I do very little insurance and when I do it is a pain. I also take checks and in ten years plus of doing business have never had one bounce.
Thinking that in the future I may not do insurance at all.
Back a few years ago I ran into two retired underwriters, whom I pitched on the free "insurance will pay" deal. Both said that you never ever do things for a minor claim like this. I also ran into a few people that couldn't change insurances because of the three or more "claims" against them. Turns out they were all chip repairs.

Re: How To Sell Cash Jobs
To make a real long story short , I'v been preeching to repair ONLY under the code ,,CCC,, which means Cash, Creditcard , Check ! Here in Conroe,Texas I haven't met one yet that didn't have some flaps in their wallet to pay me cash, 70 % prefer to pay cash. According to them it saves paperwork and I've to pay it anyway otherwise my insurance premium might go up at renewal
I don't deal with insurance networks at all and works for me perfect.
By the way I work in 105 degrees F and 98% humidity instead of 1.000% like the number that was mentioned earlier and love it !

When you do cold calling , you need a jingle people will remember you.
Mine : IT'S TIME TO CALL THE DUTCHMAN and it works to my benefit.
I even have it on my business cards and it puts a smile on peoples face !
A good humered customer never gives you trouble, they are happy to have their windshield repaired and that I save them $$ in the long run !

But what about if there is not enough funds in the account , you turn around empty handed, wright ?hidesertguy;25690 wrote:I too only do cash jobs here in california, its much easier to get paid now instead of waiting a month or two.
