Trailer Sign setup vs Tent setup?

Post by kbarnes »

Today I saw a new setup... It was a landscaping trailer with a Great BIG 11 x 6 foot sign mounted on top! Have any of you seen or use this set up? I saw this thing from at least a 1/4 mile away!

Sit under the awning and get out of the sun sit in the trailer and cook
Pull the nose of the car under the awning to get the dirrect sun off
with the trailer you would need an aditional awning for shade
personaly i have better things to do than sit by the road and hope someone stops to give me $ but for those doing it I would think the awning would be the way to go

They used no shade. Only uv blocking screens. The sign was mounted on top of a flat landscape trailer.

In my area, I've been seeing a growing presense of trailer setups as opposed to stationary tent setup. It could be attributed to the required city permits and fee's charged for a tent, while a trailer with banner might be excluded.

I'm with GlassStarz, I really don't want to sit in one place all day waiting for jobs but if it's the direction my area of repair business is taking to be profitable, I may not have a choice! Dealership work is currently down by 50% as well is fleet and rental accounts. Everybody is checking out here in Michigan and moving south or southwest for higher paying jobs. Maybe it's time to try something new?

Many of these WSR guys do more than OK using this method. If you decide to follow this path, I think the best advice I can provide.... is to appear more professional than the rest.

I think a tent with a hanging disco ball placed on top of a trailer with a live band and free corndogs would be best.....but what do I know?

Possibly, because Jerry really didn't provide anything valid to this post?

What's up with the candidates picture Jerry?

Ok, this is an odd occurance however a very inspiring one that I wish to share to you all.

Today, I was calling in a Allstate claim to Lynx Services. While on the phone with the csr I was joking and kidding around with her like normal. While talking with her, the Lynx system crashed in the middle of the dispatch!

While she was waiting for her system to come back up she informed me that her and her husband were in the process of opening up a small windshield repair operation that would operate out of a tent at car washes! Keep in mind that she is speaking very liberaly giving me the impression that they must not be recording the conversations as they say they do.

She says that 92% of Lynx claims on Saturdays are from Car washes by independant windshield repair companies. Yea, she also knows what areas are the best to promote WSR though she wouldn't tell me! as she has worked in Florida for Lynx for almost 4 years now.

She did however, say that most claims made by WSR companies were those at tent locations and car washes.
