Repairing window scratches

Post by Gedis »

I was wondering if anyone does repair scratches??? I got a call from a customer to repair one. It looks like the w/s was scratched up with sand paper or something with diamonds. Customer went to the body shop and they tried to buff it out but no luck. They made it look a lot better from outside, but from inside you still can see the glare especially night time from the upcoming headlights. Does anybody do that and what system or tools do you use??? Thanks :eusa_doh:

Gedis..that's totally different from post no1..chances are you have lines crisscrossing and going in different directions..I would turn it down.. too much work and if you get most out he probably won't be happy and your work will be in vain

Gedis,

I provide glass (tempered and laminated polishing). What you have descibed can be easily restored but you'll need to utilize the right equipment and products. If you have no prior experience in this area, training or equipment... I'd pass on this one.

If your interested getting involved in this area of services, just PM me and I'll help you out.

Personaly I would much rather sell another repair, I hate the noise and the mess. I am yet to see a system that does not cause distortion, but I am sure someone will tell me thiers does not. Mind you my eyes are set for PDR so maybe I am looking to hard.

Glass and lens polishing is more labor involved than chip repair. It's a great add for those that don't mind working a little harder.

Many scratches can be taken out without any visable distortion while other deeper ones cannot!

If you provide and sell this type of service just make sure you explain in advance to customer what results you'll be able to obtain.
