My order of 1000 address stickers (for $13) from 'currentlabels.com' should get here Monday. They read as follows on 4 lines:

CHIP BANDAID
Peel and stick
over center of chip
on outside of glass.

I cut them apart and glue onto my cards - total cost = less than 4 cents a card - maybe I'm Dutch.

Hopefully they are made out of vinyl or at least some type of material that will be durable and water proof.

They're little flimsy address stickers - I tell customers that they're good enough to keep the chip dry in a light rain. They definitely aren't going to keep the crack from running - call right away!
Passing along information more than anything else.

They really serve little purpose they dont protect the chip from temp which causes most crack outs all they do is keep some moisture out. They also make the customer feel they dont need to repair right away for myself i want them to call right away while it is fresh in mind we have all come across the customer who says the chip has been there for a year or more and yes sometimes they have a little plastic circle over them my goal is to do repairs not convince customers they can put it off. I dont get paid that way for some passing out the chipsaver strips seems like good buisness to each there own

I don't agree. Their purpose is clear. They keep the damage dry and keep out contaminates. Does it make a difference? It certainly does. My customers use them and it doesn't cause them to delay getting it repaired. If you think that by giving these to your customers you are convincing them to put it off, then you aren't giving them a clear understanding of their purpose.

J.T.Window ,
Great name to call those chipsavers CHIP BANDAID !
This will stick in their memory and that it will solve just temperarely to keep the moist and durt out.
It's like I said , I spend a little more time with my prospect and this gives me a tool .
Afterall , 8 out of 10 ask me to have it repaired right than.
It takes sometimes a little suggestion to pull them over the trashhold .
I make them understand that spending $ 45.00 now is far better than putting in a new windshield with all the burdens of leakage, loss of body structure, waisting time setting up an appointment and than wait while it is installed and don't forget to make them aware of their deductable and there after a higher premium next year at renewal.
We having a GREAT business !!

the reality is when the customer gets a chip it is fresh in mind and they call with a sense of urgency if they dont call right away it gets put on the back burner most people have many other things to worry about a small chip in the window gets put off until it cracks out and its too late. Customers dont want a lesson in chips just want it fixxed and if you tell them to fix things right away or they will possibly break out they understand that some long winded routine about how this little piece of plastic will save your chip just confuses the average person. IMHO the chipsaver gimmick helps them delay and forget about the thing again each person has an idea of what works for them and no advertising is bad advertising so go for it

GlassStarz and anyone else it may help.

You may have been selling your self wrong to the customer on the chip saver. I have a lot of customers driving long distences and so do you, and the one way I promote the chip saver is letting them know that if they get a chip on the road to please put one on the chip and that will keep the contamanation out till they get back to YOU to get it repaired. People like it that you are looking out for them and there autos. and they will return to YOU for the repair if you have done them right the whole time...

Try seeing what we are doing and and maybe a differant sales pitch on the chip savers will get you more work.

I have a bunch of RV'ers traveling out here and Ieven tell them to keep a small roll of clear packing tape in the rig for a backup to keep the dirt out till they can get to the next town for there repair to be done by a reptable repair shop. I was not selling me, I was looking out for them and there rig. They remember things like this....
I did one of my reg. RV customers yesterday driving though and they had a peice of clear packing tape over the break. All they said to me is " I remembered what you told me" and pointed to the tape... My coment back to them most of the time if they have a sence of humer is " and I thought you could not teach an old dog new tricks" We both will get a laugh out of that.

Then they show me the work of the ones that they had done on the road before returning.. Some good and some not so good as they would say...

But the bottom like this is drilled into there heads like getting an oil change, stay on top of the chips before it spreads...

Sorry so long winded. It is still early.

It's like anything else, everyone their own bagg.
When you believe in the chipsavers , you promote them , if not , you leave them in your toolbox, just that simple.
As I said , I use them as a sales tool to promote my business and it has not harmed me yet, if it does , I'll chance my course and addept my sales pitch.

Right!
Plus -- I'd rather be on a back burner than never get put on the stove.
