The term, chip "saver" is probably part of the problem. They don't save a thing. I call mine chip patches and I can't even count the number of times that my REPEAT customer has had one in place when I arrived to do the repair. So apparently my customers are not the least bit confused about the purpose these patches serve. After being in business 13 years I can tell you that they are a good part of doing business with my customers.

The items numbers are CS101 or CS121 , the last one is NEW STYLE , no idea where this stands for , but both styles are printed on one side and cost $ 17.50 per 100.

I have been wanting to get some for a while now and think I will do so in the next couple weeks. I think they are pretty cheap thru delta kits I think 100 for like $17.00 . Seems like a great thing. I had actually ordered some years ago from office max but they were the wrong type made of a paper material that broke down in a little rain :( I have customers here in michigan ask me all the time if they should do anything thing as soon as they get a chip. So far I have just been telling them to cover with some tape if they can.

I give out those chip savers to each customer after every repair, and I also give them my business card on a magnet. You can get them at Officemax or Office Depot. My customers really like it when they get these "freebies" at the end of the repair. If you're on their refrigerator AND in their glovebox, so much the better.

I don't think it should matter one way or the other , a good repair man can fix a chip contaminated or not . Just make sure it is you they come to. Who knows how long some repairs have been there before we fix them but we will not turn done the work.

I sometimes fix chips that are obviously years old ... but consider a magnified chip... picture the dust particles, oil from a dead bug, forest fire smoke, hard water stains from rain ...etc. When repairing old chips, we are basically "gluing" dirt to water spots rather than glass to glass. Old chip repairs still work OK, but don't typically look as good as a fresh break repair.

The Chip Savers I use come out to 7.5 cents each (I buy 5,000 at a time) ... and I find them very worthwhile! I leave one on the passenger seat of every car I fix... and I suggest to the client that they keep it with their insurance so that they will always know where it is...

I also have the stickers printed in several different colors... so I can leave 500 with a mechanic and tell him that for every green chip saver I scrape off a windshield, I willdrop $5 cash in the garage's Friday beer can... nice way to get other people marketing for you ... and the only way I have found to track REAL hits...

Oh yeah, to change the subject, I hate those stars when the windshield is very hot ... you know the ones with dozens of legs rather than 4 or 8! Yuck!

The link provided on first page for a custom print shop to make the chip savers is no good. Could someone post a link to who can custom print these chip savers? Where are you getting your 5,000 pcs from?
