Well let me start out by saying I DID NOT SAY I WAS PROFESSIONAL with 8 hours of training. But I would rather get some hands on training then going into this blind with a kit and a DVD
I wasnt born yesterday to know that a 1 day course is going to teach me everything I know, but I do know, that I definitely learned alot more in 1 day than I would with just a video. And had hands on practice the same time.
King Ding, or Ding King, I at least know a little on what to expect and also know a little about the business aspect of the deal as well because not only during that 8 hours, they also taught a little about the book keeping, invoicing, ect.
And why not, My employer paid for the kit and the training, if I went anywhere else it would come out of my pocket... So I am at least doing some smart things.....
OK, just starting out here!!!
Re: OK, just starting out here!!!
I suggest that you take your time. Get a practice glass and do as many repairs as you can. Make sure your repairs are coming out good before you start charging for your services. Search this forum for things you are unsure of..lots of good advice here. King Ding may be great but regardless of the equipment and the supplier....practice and learn.
Re: OK, just starting out here!!!
Good Luck Lordstanley.
I am sure you will do this the right way. Like you said you have had some training and your on here asking for advice, so your already on the right track. A great start already.
Everyone has to start somewhere, and although windscreen repair is fairly easy to do, its important that you do lots of practise.
I would suggest practise for a few more weeks then go to Delta for some additional training, I am sure they offer free training. It may teach you a few new techniques.
Did Ding King show you how to dry out a Chip? Did they show you how to pop a bulls eye?
Very important techniques that is so often missing from some training providers.

Thanks alot Fix a chip.. Yes they showed me pretty much all the aspects of the repair.
Like I explained above, I am not considering me a professional as of yet.. LOL But like you said everyone has to start somewhere, and I am getting all my ducks in a row now. I know the winter is a slow season for alot of services. So I am already figuring to learn as much as I can through out the winter, get all my advertisements, insurance companies, and hit it hard when it picks up next year.. This is the perfect time for me to start this, because I am not in any hurry right now anyway, I am just soaking it all in, and hopefully with all the help and hands on I get by the busy season, I too might be able to help a newbie out on here!

You have started the right way and now need to put some repairs under your belt.
Dont let some of the resident know it alls run you down as im sure you know the internet is full of experts in thier own mind and you must separate the wheat from the chaff you will find some here actually know and others just proffess to. .We used to have a guy around that at one time had several locations and a supposed thriving buisness but went BK and is now out of the buisness but even afterwards would tell everyone how he was a genius and how to succeed at the buisness of WR I dont know about you i dont really need the advice of a guy who is 100,s of thousands of dollars in debt and out of buisness if anything tell me what you did so i can do the opposite. I use this example to make a point not pick on anyone in particular and my point is if you are not making 75k a year or more at this you probably should sit back and listen rather than pushing your expertise but as that is not always the case here.
I would start by contacting the guys at delta about ACT or thier E program for billing and advice on where to go from here they are nice guys who will help you to avoid the pitfalls of this buisness they dont care where you bought your stuff just hope you will buy some supplies from them in the future.
WR success is like the old adage about how you make it to carnegie hall "Practice,Practice,Practice"
Good luck
