I don't think this guy will last either. I inquired with others about him today. Just like you said, this guy is getting turned down at dealers for his other services and now he's getting desperate and doing $30.00 windshield repairs to try to under-cut the area, thinking it will land him lots of jobs. I guess he has a big ole high dollar trailer full of the rest of his magic act but no one wants his services. So what do ya do when your business is failing? Find you a street corner and give away windshield repairs.

6 repairs for him = $180

6 repairs for me = $330

What a moron!

I bet that Big Ford 4X4 pulling a 28ft trailer full of equipment gets REALLY GOOD gas mileage!!!!!

As a former MARS guy I can tell you that the MARS Operators tend to find one or two things they specialize in and the others are just "add on services" I tended to do a ton of interior work so I became really proficient at it. A bulk opf my business was Interiors, glass, and Paint touch up. While my good friend whom I met through MARS he only did paint work and never used his Glass Kit or his interior stuff which all his compunds "expired"

What state did that guy move from? I know they have 4 or 5 guys in LA already That is a major issue with MARS is they will sell and sell franchises even if the market can not support it

I had heard they were trying their sales pitch out on the Optic Kleer franchisees last month trying to get them to convert to full blown "Smart Repair" franchisees. I doubt any of them will bite (Hopefully for their sake)

Price cutting is whats really screwing up the market. Been there, experienced it.

Price cutting like that does suck. Makes us all look bad and gives wsr a cheap image.

by comparison, I received a pricing update sheet over my fax from SGC Network in regard to Grange Mutual pricing - $64.95 first repair - $15.00 for additional repairs - max. of 3.

3 chip repair = $94.95

And then there are the bozos sitting on a street corner doing $25 or $30 repairs!

Sounds like he he is a guy trying to make a living just like everyone else I find if i worry less about my competition and spend more time making my service better I have no stress My grandfather taught me a long time ago a weak man finds fault in others rather than pointing out the positives and competition isnt bad
As far as price sounds like he is after the ins market with his free repairs sign and offers a discount to cash customers pretty normal if you ask me

The parking lot guys I've seen and talked to in my area offer about the same on cash jobs ($30) When I asked them why so low they told me they tried getting more but at the end of the day they have twice the amount of takers at the lower price. Makes sense to me. 2 cash jobs per hour is still $60. Cant' make that flipping burgers! You also have to remember 75% of what they do repair is insurance and they get the same pricing as the rest of us.
