I've been of the air for about 6 weeks due to my business trip to Costa Rica to investigate the possibility of a w/r repair business overthere.
First thing I did after I came back , was checking the windshield repair forum to read any reactions on my threads I submitted before I left, yes I'm vain, but discovered also new threads with questions by newcomers into this business that had been explained already in prior threads.
Why are these dudes not reading the older threads first, before popping a question where they can find the answer on their question in the older threads ?
Beats me, but when I got into this business I've spend many nights reading these older threads teaching myself by reading the question and answers.
To my observation we are running in circles and repeat same stuff over and over that had been explained by the older in this business techs before !
Read it well , I wrote older in this business techs not older techs , to which catagory I admitt , I belong .
If I'm wrong I will apologize , but to my observation nothing has changed during those 6 weeks I was gone !
But let's keep it up and keep sending in your threads , esta la vida , that's life !

Re: running in circles
I agree we do quite often go over the same subject and maybe each question which turns out with the same answer is asked in a different way. Maybe if we did not go over things this forum could dry up. It is after all a very simple skill to learn by far and away the hardest bit is selling and marketing.
Some of the things we used to think of as right have changed, new people have bought on new ideas. Even some of the manufacturers have changed. When we first started repairing screens we used a halogen lamp from inside the car for the last 18 years we have used a torch and in later years the drystar, there are in fact other dry out sytsems available but in would suggest these are the two most common. We even had my lips against windshield and blow system that for some reason did not work.
Maybe we should drag some of the really old posts out and see how we would answer them now.

33,000 + screen repairs over 18 years and still learning.

I totally agree with the views of this thread. I belong to the family of " you never stop learning". By sharing and resharing ideas and opinions it developes the skills of the new learner and the old learner which in turn achieves a good understanding and , hopefully, the highest standards of glass repairs possible. When you think about it, it's amazing that, via the internet, people around the world can actively contribute and share ideas so quickly.

Re: running in circles
Unfortunately it would be a very daunting task to try to re-organize all the posts, although the search feature helps with that. Sometimes the search function on the Delta Kits home page works better for me. This is a fairly new feature on the website, so if you haven't tried it yet, I would be interested in what you think. I think it will be especially helpful for those new to the forum, although I suspect new threads will continue to pop up for old topics, just as they do on any other forum. Try searching for RLI or Air Bubble using the forum search function, and then try it again form the Delta Kits home page search. Which one works best for you?
I don't mean to keep preaching, but if we try to keep the threads and posts in this forum related to the topics at hand this forum will be much more beneficial to those who are searching for a particular topic.
Please start a new thread for all topics not related to the current thread, and post all non-windshield repair related topics to the water cooler.
Thanks.

LOL I don't understand why anyone cares if a certain question has already been answered. I usually search before I post but many times I don't find exactly what I need to read. So yeah maybe that question was answered but there are always new people and replies that may be better then the older answer. So again who cares.

The {Name removed at the request of the manufacturer} thread is certainly a new and non repetitive thread at least on this side of the pond.
