I have heard many pros and cons regarding advertising in the windshield repair business. Here's some food for thought: There is a guy in our area who specializes in advertising businesses and his commercial goes like this.
You wake up in the morning in your ADVERTISED bed, brush your teeth with your ADVERTISED toothbrush, drive to your business in an ADVERTISED car and work with a kit which in our cases were ADVERTISED by the company we bought them from. The guy complains about ADVERTISING saying it doesn't work, a waste of money. Eventually he goes out of business finally ADVERTISING his business for sale!

Selling a business and selling a windshield repair are not quite the same thing.
In each case you are appealing to a difference audience.
I tried advertising in the paper and had no luck.
Free advertising online is more to my liking.
A lettered truck is an advertisement. Lettered shirts, uniforms and business cards are a form of advertisement.
Word of mouth is the best advertisement.

It dose work. Advertising that dosn't work is very expensive. Advertising that dose work is profitable.
There is no cheap way to advertise. For max benifit. If you figure that out then you should go be a advertising executive.
Think about it. Coke, Pepsi, Budweiser and Wal Mart all advertise on the radio and TV. Why do you think that is? Repetetive advertisments work. Just they are expensive.
Very expensive. Folks in the service feild that can not drop 50k on a week end radio advertisment for 200 plugs. Need to be smart.
Use the KISS system. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!
Play off others advertisments.
You hear a up coming radio add for a cell phone dealer that is going to have a radio show on site. GO SELL YOUR SELF TO THEM.
Make a deal. You will fix every windsheild for free that insurance will not cover. Just be there. Have your kid stand on the corner with a sand wich board FREE GLASS REPAIR.
The cell phone deal make out you make out. You also get you name out there. Word of mouth advertising is the best advertising. Its also the hardest to maintain. You mess up one repair. It will take 20 to get that word of mouth back.
Go talk to your high end radio shops. That do instalation. Make a deal. You will reapir all the glass they can find. You will also send every radio lead their way. Work together.
I am in a major service field. I amin Salt Lake City Utah right now. I have 78 customers nation wide. I still have to advertise my self to them.
Yea, I do the pens, the cards, the candy with my company name on it.
You know what sells. My stopping in. Chatting with them. I bring NOTHING. Just me and my dog. Every body has pens and cards. I do as well. Just I am me. I am all about service.
The first thing out of my mouth. I am so and so. What can I do to help you out right now? I ALWAYS stop in Monday or Tuesday morning.
Sending pizzas at lunch time next week. That will happen while I am over 1-2k miles away from here. Just they will remember me. I vacumed the office and my dog is a trip. My wife picked up the office. Before the office manager and owner finally came to interduce him self.
We set for 45 mins with the owner of this office. Talked about life. SHOP NEVER came up. We talked sailing, politics, religion and ***. We talked alot about dogs and fine food. NOT ONCE did shop come up.
We offer a service that IS NOT windsheild repair. We are 1 of 422 folks that offer what we do to 78 folks in country. Those 78 folks. We can not look like we are trying or begging. We work with them. My self. I like to work with only 5 of the 78. The 5, I work with;work with me for the money. Its us against the other 73 folks.
We offer service. NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. The man I spoke with today. I had never met. He had made me aot of money. He comented on I have seen alot of folks. You guess came here to say "here we are and here is what we do". We service our customers.
Some folks take no for a answer. To me no means I did not explain my self. A second no means I did not represent my self. A third no means Its time to start selling the yes.
