A Fun One....Get Creative

Post by Hack Job Bob »

Usually I'm good at this, but I'm a bit stumped coming up with a great name for my new business. I am doing repair only. I need to get it figured out quickly.

It's got to ring my bell if I'm going to look at it and say it all the time. I know you all have some great ideas....whether or not you will share is another question. Open the vaults and throw some ideas at me ladies and gentlemen! All ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Curious, what made you choose your forum name? I do not have any suggestions at the moment other than to not use your member name. If I think of something I will share. Good luck.

Mark,

Before chosing any business name it's always important to make sure nobody else in your has already registered the same.

Seeing that you only provided your location as the East Coast and haven't filled out a profile, the only thing that comes to mind is "East Coast Windshield Repair"

fair question. It's a family name from way back. My dad put tools in our hands at the age of two or so (much to my aunt's horror). We caused a lot of trouble, but we also got good at fixing/creating/building or just taking things apart. The title Hack Job Bob popped out in my late teens after creating some tool to do some project we got ourselves into (specifics of project unknown as this was not uncommon). hope that answers your question.

and no, i don't think that would make a great name for this field!

Hey guys I always think it's important to think about the future. What if you move or expand do you want a business name that limits you geographicly.

Location is almost always a good way to go, if not already taken. It identifies with the locals and immediately gives an air that you're established. For instance, Vancouver Windshield Repair, Tri-City Windshield Repair, etc. A couple names I tossed around in the past: A Touch of Glass and Windshield Wizard. Another idea, if you're a mobile service, consider turning that to your advantage with it either in your name, such as Davidson Mobile Windshield Repair, or incorportate in a tag line such as Windshield Doctor "Mobile Windshield Repair Specialists"

It took me weeks to settle on a name. I wanted something that would indicate that I'm "mobile" and indicate the area that I serve. All sorts of names that included "north or northeast TX" did ring my bell. And, I didn't want to use county or city names. I finally settled on a nickname that refers to my city - "bois d'arc." How about a name that indicates a region - like Piedmont (North Carolina)? Or "swampy" (south GA)?
