This forum is what it is. You all agreed to abide by the same rules when you joined, but some get upset when I enforce those rules. For the record I have never banned anyone yet, but I'm sure I will have to at some point. There were a few that were banned before I took over the forum administration due to the fact that they refused to honor their agreement, but very few.

Please try to stay on topic. If you want to complain about how I run this forum, take it to the water cooler. I can handle criticism but I will continue to enforce the forum rules even if that offends some of you.

If you want a forum without rules, start one and see how popular it becomes or how long it lasts, but don't waste everyone's time whining about how I run this one. No one is forcing you to be part of this community, you asked to join knowing full well what is acceptable and what is not.

99% of the members of this forum obey the rules and are very respectful of others. If the other 1% would do the same there would be no need for me to moderate, but sadly the 1% just can't seem to get that through their heads.

I drill the small inpact area to create a intre point, the other one I dont drill just fill

My toolbox has 2 dremels - one has a fresh burr and the other has a used burr that I use for drilling out old resin. Drilling an old repair packs dried resin between the blades of the burr and makes it useless for drilling glass.

I use my drill on every break depending on what is needed:
-- removing loose fragments.
-- 'roughing up' smooth parts of the crater so my resin will bond better.
-- drilling the glass to pop a bullseye.

Also, I gotta ask - if you're filling without drilling don't you have to use a watery-thin resin? And if your resin is thin enough to seep into a crack easily, does it hold without shrinking up? And doesn't that lead to a lot of call-backs?

JT, try burning that resin off with your blow torch. For those of us in wet climates drilling correctly will help open up a tight damage to assist with drying out.

I liked the post from the guy in Mexico who used an ultrasonic/water bath jewelry cleaner to blast the old resin out of his burrs. The Cheap Tool store in town has one for $30. Anybody else ever used one of these?

Again, - thin resin = shrink-up = call backs??

JT, I do not get a problem using low viscosity resins. I am on Magnibond for every damage.

I tried one. I bought it at Circuit City. I didnt notice a lot of difference after I used it.
Its more efficient to just hold the bit over the flame of a gas burner with a pair of pliers and burn off the old resin.
