Re: Business really takes off for tent guy!
Would you feel differently about these "Monkeys" if they were working for bananas and not peanuts?

Pound for pound, :eusa_thin Peanuts are very expensive, compared to banannas!!
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!
While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

I hope that's not directed at me. Sounds like a very arrogant statement either way.splitpit;27225 wrote:It would be hard to take pride in what you do, when doing it for peanuts!
For me, I can take pride in my work even if I'm doing a freebie for a buddy. Why? Because I know that nobody could have done it better. Pride in one's work has nothing to do with how much $$ is charged.
A lot of really poor repairs are done every day at full retail rates... does that make for this kind of pride? So those glass shop hacks are pretty proud I guess. Is that better than doing a really great repair but charging less than the hack?
I happen to believe I am in the correct price range for my market. I could go higher and lose some work... possibly a lot of work... and things would not be so 'easy' at many of my accounts. One thing I look for is a price the customer is happy with so they do not hesitate or cherry pick what I do.
Bottom line... it's a complicated issue. There is no "right" price for everyone.
As for the tent guy.... I might have to try a tent location next summer for one of my guys, like one day a week. It's very tempting... something new and different for me and my area.

It wasn't directed at anyone in particular. It's just my opinion that people who are getting paid what they deserve take more pride in their work than people who are underpaid.

There you go again GlassStarz, whining about stuff, reading into it what you want, not liking other people's opinions if they don't match yours. I'm a little tired of your crying.
In general, whether it is WSR or any other occupation, I believe that people who are paid what they deserve have a better feeling about what they do, thus making them care more about what they do, thus providing for more of a sense of pride and accomplishment than the person who is underpaid.
That's my opinion, whether you like it or not, GlassStarz. What are you going to do, complain to Brent AGAIN because I have an opinion that you don't agree with?
You must have some serious insecurities buddy.

NOW NOW fellows.. I have gained great insight from another forum thread
1st...I learned that its OK to laugh at other peoples misfortunes while they strive to provide for their families.
2nd....The less Gold you make the more lead it takes to hold your tent down.
3rd....You can save a substantial amount of money by switching to GEICO...
