Worst Month of the year

Post by S&W Glass Repair »

By far November is my worst month of the year, it has rained approximately half the days, including today that's why I have FREE time to write this. How is everyone else doing this month, just curious. I'm off by approximately 80%
Cheers,
Scott

Judging by our November sales I would say you are not alone. We almost always have either a slow November or a slow December, but not both, so here's hoping we see a big December!

We are also in a slow period. Since a large portion of our business is dealership based, when there slow and not selling units, we are slow.

This is when doing dealer work is a bad idea. Fleet work is non seasonal in fact many of my bus and truck fleets do more work at this time of year, meaning they get more screen damage. I know for a fact that the motor trade in the UK is also on a big downer, I would hate for more than 30% of my work to come from that source alone. Fleet as we know is harder to sell to but once you are in they tend to be more loyal.
Another word on this matter is live to the bad times and not the good, financialy I mean.
Funny this question is being asked on Smart Repair forums in the UK and dent forums over there. Is this the beginning of a global financial recession?

It has been slow from Turkey day to new year for years. I will normaly get a rush the next work day after then slow down again. But not this year... Tmes are tough all over... tighten the belt one more notch.

Jeff, from some of your previous post it seems you were being feed very well by the networks this summer. When end of November hits don't expect much from them until March or April of next year. Time to go ice fishing for some steady other winter work here in Michigan.

My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

While my friend and trainer/ mentor Ray has moved on, his words live.

Every year from after Holloween to new years is a bit slow. Every job counts. This year it is compounded by a spike in gas prices yielding the same effect we had during katrina and rita. OUCH!
People are holding on to spare cash. Hang on until after New Year's!
We have had a great year up until this point so the slow down is a bit of a relief. How many brick and motar businesses have you seen go belly up? I have seen a bunch of restaurants bite the dust.
