BRENT,or anybody out there have a solution to process faster,I do several repairs daily and always call in a repair with the customer,is their any software that I can purchase that will allow me to process the invoice without Lynx,or SGC speaking to the insured. For example i get the insurance card from the customer write the information down on a invoice let the customer sign it with the date of loss, now how would i process the invoice without LYNX,or SGC speaking to them.

I doubt that you can bypass the CSR speaking to the insured to verify information unless you fraudulantly make that call posing as the insured, which wouldn't be a very smart thing to do. If you are all already onsite with the insured and you have made the call, you will get the job, so why are you concerned about the insured speaking to the CSR?

My guess is that you are not a network member shop and you know that the CSR will inform the customer of that? Which probably means you are set up at a fixed location and not doing mobile service? Which means that you are not getting network referals and you are only doing work for customers who drive up to your location and then you call the network?

I have seen a few companies that do the work and then call the customer and insurance company or TPA after the fact. They get both parties on a conference call and go over the work that has already been completed. I think this is a very dangerous game and probably takes more time in the long run, but does allow the technician to get through the jobs faster. This is not how the insurance companies and TPA's want it done, and I certainly do not endorse or condone it.

It's a pain to get pre-approval but it is probably necessary for the insurance companies to minimize the amount of false claims being filed. In the old days we did the work and mailed in the invoice, but unfortunately there was quite a few windshield repair and replacement companies that were less than honest about the work they were performing, so insurance companies were forced to tighten up the rules.

I do know a lot of technicians that start the job and then call the insurance company so that by the time the insurance company is done verifying the customer's information the windshield repair is nearly completed. There is risk involved with this as well, but it helps eliminate steering does work well for some.

I hope someone that is using one of these methods will chime in and let us know how well it works for them.

Not to beat a dead horse I know I have said this in other posts but heck lets go again I use ACT I put the customer on the phone and start the repair about the time I am done so are they no one ever gets steared I do no billing etc and move on to the next repair badabingbadaboom ACT knows what the max each ins company pays is and charges that amount worth the fee to me and in the rare case that the customers ins doesnt pay for repair the customer doesnt say no because the repair is already done if they waffle give em a deal

Maybe you could try direct billing through the agent. I'm not sure if this would work, I've only had to do this when something went wrong with the regular process. If I remember correctly, the agent will call the network and then Lynx or Safelite will call you to give you the reference number.

One possible drawback to this is that they might send the check to the insured instead of you.

Here's another idea: If you're doing so many repairs a day (I hate you) why not create your own version of ACT. Hire a retiree or homemaker with a phone capable of 3-way calling and speed dial their # and hand the phone to the customer, they could then set up a 3-way call with the insurance co. and go through the whole process for you while you're focusing on the repair. Each completed invoice would earn them $5 - $10 dollars.
