I thought that it would be great to just have the customer sign off and let someone else handle the phone call to Ins Co. I got a company out of Nebraska to do that and, although they initially did a good job, the different Ins Cos started balking at this and would let me know that they would no longer pay for work not preapproved. So I am back to calling them before starting the work or during the work. It really isn't that bad to do this but it was really nice to just have them sign off and not have to bother with a phone call.

I understand this is not relevent for today, but I thought I would share.
I was doing ins. repairs long before the agents even knew what it was.........(1980,s)
I contacted all the major regional underwriters and expained to them what I was doing, they allowed me to do the repairs without pre-autherization just one blanket approval on there list and I just mailed them directly into there regional head quarters. $60.00 a pop +10.00 each additional. No pre-approval,No agents, No lynx, No steering, got a check in three buisness days. I knew this wasnt going to last so I made hay while the sun was shining upon me.

The high volume service departments allowed me to view there customers r.o.'s. after walking there service lot and jotting down the number that was hanging on the review mirror that identified the car with the r.o. and then there was the one's in the waiting room too, I fixed um while the mechanic was working on the car.
I know this is not allowed today, I went thru culture shock (billing shock) when they started with lynx.

I had ucms complaing to me jokingly asking me when I was going to get to there inventory?
It was hard, $200.00. out in the front of the store on used cars or $800.00
in the back of the store, I got um coming and going.I had to pull myself away from service to go out front. I had a blast.
