State Farm Non-Waiver Results
Splitpit's thread "Which Insurance Companies" reminded me to ask this question. Has anyone heard any results from State Farm on it's decision to stop waiving deductables? It's been a year since they stopped waiving deductables in many states (i.e. LA, OK, MI, etc). How have State Farm customers responded?

Re: State Farm Non-Waiver Results
From my experience so far in Michigan, State Farm insureds weren't overly pleased when they found out repair became an out of pocket expense. On referrals from State Farm I have a 50% loss rate on these cash jobs. Can't blame the consumer shopping for a better deal when companies like Belle Tire (with over 80 locations strong here) advertises $19.95 repairs on local TV weekly and I'm asking for $50.
What really bothers me more than anything is CSR's put me on 3 way conference calls with these people and seldom explain to them prior that repair is not waived. Makes me look like the "BAD GUY" every time!

I have gotten lucky and they always explained to them that they had to pay. I get several a week from statefarm that have zero decutable that is how most of mine are now.

Re: State Farm Non-Waiver Results
I just had a previous client refer a SF insured w/ 100.00 deductible. She wanted the no charge insurance paid repair. She said she got a run around when she called her agent. When I advised her that it is SF's policy unless you have a 0.00 deductible, the first 50.00 would be out of her pocket. Since she had a 100.00 deductible she was not happy. She is now deciding if she wants to spend the money.
I get very few SF customers, network or non-network and to the best of my knowledge here in PA this still is how SF handles claims.

SGT,
That's been my experience so far but who knows....give this a couple years and SF policy holders may get used to paying for both repairs and replacements.

Re: State Farm Non-Waiver Results
well here in AZ I finally received my first non waive with ST. F. The customer was not pleased, He took it up with his agent and they did not no it took affect in AZ either. I faxed everything the the agent to see for them selves.
THis is going to be an eye opener for them with their customers as they find out the hard way... It's not like it use to be for them.... I do not even know if they can buy a glass waiver anymore....
Well Iam going to call now as long as it is in the front of my mind....
DA #M, I forgot what I was going to do now.. OH well

Re: State Farm Non-Waiver Results
A friend of mine who lives in Oklahoma lost his State Farm coverage for wsr and as a result he started shopping around and ended up dropping SF on everything, home and autos. He switched to Shelter and said he's paying less for the same coverage. He did not find out that they had dropped it until he called a shop to have his windshield repaired! He wasn't real fond of their decision and they lost him as a customer. I'm sure that the same scenario as his has played out with plenty of SF insured all over the country. You can bet that they are losing customers simply by pissing them off and giving them reason to shop around.

Re: State Farm Non-Waiver Results
When this came about our state was in the first bunch, Washington. I have informed all customers of the change, (it is in the declarations from the ins co) No customer so far was aware of the change, even though is is in writing on the declarations pages, bottom line, IF the damage occurred following the insureds policy change, (this began Dec 05 here in Wa. State) Then the coverage is what State farm has issued, some have 0 deduct you need to check on that, others will bring damage that occurred during the period when they had coverage for chip repair. Another consideration. I believe that the folks there have been feeling as though they were taken advantage of by the fly by nighters. We as providers need to continue to do great work and help weed out those who scam in order to clean the slate. I know the Ins industry wants to continue to enjoy the benefit of repair over replacement, but the "harvesters" are out there, weather repair or replacement. So this is THE response. My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!
