ChargeAmerica
ChargeAmerica
Just wondering if anyone still uses Chargeamerica for their CC processing? Their rates seemed reasonable and good for people who do a low volume of credit card work. In previous posts some said to try a local bank but mine was pretty expensive. Any advice is appreciated.

zachb,
Seems reasonable to me. You might want to contact the BBB for any complaints prior to signing up. The last merchant card service I used was higher on setup, had to buy refurbished equipment, monthly minimum was $35 and transaction fees were around $0.32/2.45%.
Can anybody share how long a cell phone CC transaction takes? Asking because you'll have to figure your cell minutes expenses into the equation.
Thanks for the lead, have to check it out myself!

Re: ChargeAmerica
We use Central payment corp. 95.00 set up fee (waived) 0.00$ minimum per month, 2.19 percent, .27c transaction fee per item, $5.00 monthly statement fee. That's it. No equipment, transactions are done via the phone, direct deposit in two business days. I have only used them for four months but no problems so far. My old provider hit me with an annual access fee, (w/o telling me) for $100.00. I found the charge on my bank statement. Hence the change.
My best mentor one said " be fair with your priceing but never too low, be honest with your customer/competition, when the day is done be sure you have done "good works", and always leave something of value on the barganing table!!

Costco members get good rates: http://www.novainfo.com/costco/index.asp
We use QuickBooks merchant services as it integrates very will with the QuickBooks accounting package we use, but their rates are not as good as Costco.

Re: ChargeAmerica
I use PayPal. It has its ups and downs but works well for me especially since I dont get very many requests for credit/debit transactions.
To get paid you bill the customer via e-mail invoice; the customer then clicks on the invoice and is redirected to PayPal's website and can pay you there (they do not need a PayPal account).
No set-up fees
No monthly/annual fees
No cancellation fees
No equipment
Only 30 cent transaction fee + 1.9 - 2.9%
Works well with QuickBooks if you use it
Get paid in days
PayPal is a trusted and well know payment method
Etc, etc, etc.

Re: ChargeAmerica
That is what I currently use also. It is fine for a small volume, but I dont like not being able to clear the credit card before I leave. And if you upgrade to where you can process credit cards through paypal on a wireless laptop then their rates aren't nearly as competitive.
