Re: 3RD Annual Repair Olympics
Screenman,
With one title "windshield repair person of the year" already, have you given thought to trying to get a gold the WSR Olympics? I know it is a long swim across the pond!
At this point I am going to Vegas and looking forward to it. The competition should be fun too!

Re: 3RD Annual Repair Olympics
I personally spoke with the winner of the 1st repair Olympics in Vegas and he told me any one of the finalist could've won with the quality of repairs they provided. The key point was presentation scores he received from the judges.
If you plan on competing just make sure your one of those presentable type individuals. GlassStarz? I think you would fair well in this competition! LOL

Re: 3RD Annual Repair Olympics
I moved a bunch of posts to the water cooler. I have asked many times that when you guys want to talk non-sense that you do it there, not here where technicians take their profession seriously. Just because someone is serious about their business does not mean they don't have a sense of humor. Please be respectful of others and try to stay on topic when posting to the main windshield repair forum. Joke all you want in the water cooler forum, that's what it is there for.
I've met a number of contestants from previous Windshield Repair Olympic competitions, and although I may not agree with all of their techniques, their professionalism cannot be disputed. If I was looking to hire a windshield repair technician these are the guys I would be looking for, and if I was a customer in need of a windshield repair, these are the guys I would want working on my car.
Please be considerate of other forum users. Thanks for your cooperation.

And just because someone has a sense of humor doesn't mean they don't take their business seriously!
Though I kid around about the wsr olympics and it's not something of interest to me, my on the job performance and professionalism is outstanding. But when I'm not on the job I just can't find any interest in competing to do something that I already do quite well and have done quite well thousands of times over and over. I just don't have the mind set to find enjoyment, satisfaction, or honor in a windshield repairing competition. I tie my shoes correctly each day too but wouldn't compete with others doing it.
If those who take this thing seriously found my comments offensive, I apologize. I know some of you live and breathe wsr repair whether on the job or off the job and I applaud you for your dedication. But for me, when I'm not on the job I enjoy finding seperation between my occupation and my personal life. Live, laugh, and love. There's more to life than what you already do for a living day in and day out! JMHO

Re: 3RD Annual Repair Olympics
Unfortunately I will not be attending the contest, and for sure I would not stand a chance of winning as I am sure there are guys far more proffesional than me. I welcome any effort by others to rise the bar in both repair quality and presentation of our trade and I applaud all those with the bottle (as we say) to take part. It takes courage to compete at anything where you are judged by others, most people would not feel comfortable in a competition like this.

Re: 3RD Annual Repair Olympics
Glass Tech makes the computerized system called the Eliminator. It costs $3995. I think its the only one on the market. I agree with you screenman, the human touch cannot be replaced. Ive never used the Eliminator but from the advertisement it sounds like you hook it up and can walk away. Anyone here uses one...? please reply..
Re: 3RD Annual Repair Olympics
I'd love to see a video of this high dollar system in use. If you can just hook it up and walk away and get consistent high quality repairs without any manual assistance from a human, I'd be very surprised. There are just too many variables and too many varying types of damages for me to believe that it can do the work without typical manual techniques.
Now if it will make me coffee, fill out my invoices, do my insurance billings, and rub my feet, I'm in!
