suction cup lubricant

Post by StellarChip »

Any good ideas what i can use to promote adhesion for my suction cup that isn't to difficult to clean up afterwards?? I usually use glass cleaner but wonder what long term effects it might have on the cup itself. As always thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I use a shot of dawn soap in a spray bottle and top off with water. Never used anything else for 17 years.

then when you are done with the repair, spray down the glass and finish cleaning with the same thing...

Okay, Tell me what I'm missing...Manufacturer recommends Vaseline for my set-up. Will soapy water suffice? Sorry for the newbie questions.

I would use soapy water... Because I do all the time.... You will replace the suction cup in a year or two anyway.... The vaseline is is just to messy to use to me.

+1 for vaseline is too messy. Just plain water works (I just usually dab a little spit if needed), though soap is a natural lubricant. Cold weather is about the only time it seems to matter.

Could you please tell us which manufacturer said Vaseline? I go with all the other posts. Although in times when you really want to move the bridge KY jelly is the one.

Do you have to ask your wife if you can borrow her KY?

OH Crap, Brent's going to write me up on that one.

I can tell you the "I do not want my name on this board" is the company that promotes Vaseline. It came with my so called crack syst. Not using there resin or injectors ... A Q tip does better. Resin sets to fast, no time to work with it.... I had to see for my self.

I did not name names. Just personal feelings.
