Hello All Glass Technicians
Hello All Glass Technicians
Thank goodness I have found a forum with so much experience the windshield repairs. I have pondered this business for sometime and have finally decided to start some real research and maybe you people can help.
First question is and hopefully unbiased in answers is what would you recommend as a good starter repair kit ? Would you recommend a kit that removes the trapped air by vacuum first before the resin is inserted or would you use the other version ?. Would you use a vacuum pump or not ? Which kit/resins generally gives consistent good results without equipment failure ?
I am really looking forward to your replies. Kind regards Thegriffin

Delta all the way and I have tried a lot of kits over the years. Give them a call get booked in and do your training and then get out and earn some money, you will not regret it. I still see this business as fun after 20 years.

No I did not go to the States they came to me, if you would like to see the Delta equipment I will PM you my details. I know a lot of businesses in Notts as I worked the area and sold the area a while ago.

Welcome to the forum and to windshield repair. I swear by Delta's equipment also. There are some other good ones out there also (from what I hear). But the few other ones I've used are not on the same par with Delta. I believe there are a number of good resins: Delta, Glass Mechanix, GT, and Liquid Resins to name some of the more reputable in the states. One that I like I can't post the name but it cures with natural light. And the vacuum pump question; I started out with one of those years ago and am glad to be rid of it. Others might disagree.

Re: Hello All Glass Technicians
Why not get a system that works either way and has a built in probe to boot?

Re: Hello All Glass Technicians
You know you are always welcome here Dave, but I think it only fair to let forum members know that you work for Liquid Resins, and I would ask that you do not promote your company's products here.
I think if forum members are interested in hearing what the manufacturer's have to say about their own products they will contact us directly, but I believe they come hear to get the opinions of unbiased windshield repair technicians, if there is such a thing.
I ask that you and other manufacturer representatives identify yourselves as such in your signature line, just as I identify myself as working for Delta Kits so everyone knows our biases. That way we can answer questions about our products, but refrain from doing any selling.
While I try to keep this site open to the opinions of others I have never tried to hide the fact that this site is owned by Delta Kits, and exists largely for the benefit of Delta Kits. Therefore I will not let it become an advertising page for the competition who do not share in the expense and the tremendous amount of time I have invested here.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Re: Hello All Glass Technicians
First let me say I use Liquid resins injectors and like them but have never been able to find a good use for the probe that is built into it if you push the thing down enough to get the probe into the break you squeeze all the resin out if you use it independently you are exposing the end of your injector to dirrect light and we all know what happens to resin when the sun hits it. That said I use em like em and would recomend em but come on Dave they let other recomend here but someone who works for the competitors the old nuns are gonna smack you knuckles with the ruler LOL
