H/l Looks Sandblasted

What ya guys do about some H/L's that has a deep white frost color in it like a dime or quarter size sand the heck out of it or just do your best ?
i tried sanding as much as i can i only start at 500 grit and then move up to a 800 grit should i use lesser grit if i have something like this.
and what about when you turn the headlights on notice pits in some spots is it that im not sanding good enough?

BMW get sandblasted pretty good just sand the damage off

I did the lights on a BMW 3 series today that had considerable damage. I started with 320 grit to get the damage off.

It was a Mercedes-Benz 4 eyed car guess im going to have to get lower grit to do the deep sandblast area's. I believe the wd does a better job than water its that the water splater every where while then wd is a little thick and stays on the h/L but im thinking that the dirty wd that we are sanding tends to soak a little into the plastic to make it just a bit unclear it might be just my thinking.

I use as course as 220 then step up to 400 -600-1200 -2000 on those type of damage.I too have experienced some effect on some lens but not all with the WD-40.It seems to effect the larger /thinner lens on the newer model cars.I do alot of retail so I think that I will avoid it on those.To me the Dvelup system over all is the best on the market so far.JMHO..............

Since WD40 isn't always the answer, and I don't own a Dvelup kit, what do you use to break up the clear coat?

I dry sand. Like harrellbenjamin, I start with a 220 if the lens is in really bad shape, which takes the original clear coat right off. With dry sanding you don't get the contamination from the lens mixing with the water and you have less mess, but you do have dust to contend with so you should always wear a mask.

Yes if you drysand step up fron 220 to 400 and then wetsand 600 on out from there.Be really carefull to use a mask when drysanding as the dust from polycarbonate is toxic and nasty stuff.
