I Heard an Ad on the Radio about Air Conditioning

Post by jayjacque »

And I think it's right. It said when you have a windshield stone chip during hot summer weather and you use air conditioning, there could be a split out. That's exactly what happened to me!

Last winter I had a chip that right away split out horizontally on the very bottom part of my windshield. Because it already split out and was so low that it didn't show up much, I basically didn't pay attention to it for months. Until maybe 3 weeks ago that is. That's when (probably due to using air conditioning) it all of a sudden split out about 8-10 inches vertically upward!

So I guess the moral of the story is I should've sealed it off, but also it's a selling point anytime there are different extremes of temperature there is increased possibility of break out.

Going thru a car wash is another good way to make your chips crack out.

First dont take this the wrong way but who taught you this buisness? One of the first things you learn is to sell the need for repair one of which is cool to hot or vice a versa
Second I wouldnt get a repair from a guy who showed up with a unrepaired crack himself appearance is important and customers pay attention to it.
And as a side note we dont seal off cracks and chips we repair them
Again it isnt my intention to be negative but image is everything and you only have one chance to make a first impression

First don't take this the wrong way but who taught you your people skills. You made a pretty nasty impression with me, but I won't hold it against you.

If you had rock chip and you're a windshield tech why wouldn't fix it immediately?

Regardless of who taught who, hopefully you will take this lesson and apply it to selling repairs. It happens all the time and its a great selling point. Hopefully you'll repair that chip early on next time it gets you too.

Well, maybe I wasn't clear enough, but when I got the chip it immediately cracked out horizontally, or being that it was so low (in the bottom black part of the windshield) maybe it was there a short while but I didn't see it til it split out. At any rate it was almost all in the bottom black part, so you could hardly see it. And the few times I've attempted long cracks they still showed, so I figured what's done is done.

Sorry but the sceptic in my has to wonder when someone who professes to be a long term WR tech with and established buisness then say "Hey I just heard that the airconditioner might spread a chip" or "I should have sealed it" The problem with the net is we dont see the person on the other end and sometime they are not what they claim. Not to say this is the case but one thing every tech who is in the buisness knows is what can set a break off and the smart ones use it to sell the customer. Again Im Sorry if I am out of line you just sent up a couple flags that needed to be questioned experienced WR techs use different tools and different techniques but some things are always true again this isnt a personal attack just a question

I was just saying that I now believe it because it just happened to me. That's a little different than "hey guys I just found out this new information". And yeah hindsight is 20/20. I wish I would've sealed it. Some repair cracks. I personally don't.
