UV Lamps

Post by GlasWeldTech »

Sure is quiet around here!!! I have a question for techs. How often are you changing your UV bulbs and are there anyone out there that just uses the Sun for curing?

Every 3 months unless they have been dropped in which case sooner. Certainly once you start see the end go black change them, for such a small cost per job it is not worth having it in full order. As for the sun, remind me what does it look like? Joking aside even in a very sunny day the lamp still comes out to play.

I use the sun
Of course I live in a area where we have gotten less than an inch of rain in 10 months and the brain dead weatherman announced you need to make sure you have a coat because its gonna drop to 65 deg
Moisture in a break? not likely unless Scotty beamed in the moisture im not sure where it could have come from?
I have a uv lamp but havnt used in in about a year

Eddie,

I have used the sun in a pinch but do try to always use the lamp. As for bulb replacement well it is rare for me to date. Then again I am part time and probablly do not hit the numbers a full time tech might. I usually cure for 5 min. which is certainly long enough with my lamp and resin. When the lamps stops curing effectively I will change the bulbs. On a side note, I have had to replace the ballast(circuit board) in my lamps though probably from getting banged around.

Like Glassstarz the sun works great here in Hawaii, although sometimes I will use my lamp for shade. Don't worry about Screenman, Glassstarz, I've got your back.

GlassStarz, I was just packing the cases when you mentioned the beer, everything back in the cupboard mrs, that lot over there are uncivilised. As for 100deg no problem I have been in a sauna before, mind you I was naked, now that is not a nice picture.
