Getting Jobs
Getting Jobs
Hey there,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to this forum, but have been active in the business for many years. I spent time introducing windshield repair to the car wash industry and Jiffy Lubes all across the nation back in the 90's. This is a very rewarding industry and has been very good to me. In fact, I used to own a manufacturing company (Superglass) that made and distributed repair systems in 7 countries and all 50 states. I sold the company in the 90's and spent time with our employees and building a great repair business. I love the business and consult nationwide. Hey for those who are interested (shameless plug) I even wrote a book about marketing windshield repairs!...........you can see it at http://www.windshield-repair-business.com. I have met a lot of repair techs all over the country in my travels and cant wait to learn more here!
Thanks
Marty

Re: Getting Jobs
Welcome to the windshield repair forum Marty. We welcome your input and appreciate anything you wish to share with the members of this board, but this is not a place for self promotional information. If fact, all self promotional links were deleted from our old board, and likely will be on this one as well as soon as I get the rules clearly posted. However, since some of the rules are not posted yet and forum members may find your book beneficial I will leave the link to your website for now.
In the future I would ask that you do not use this board for advertising your products without permission and "if" permission is granted that you use the For Sale forum for that purpose.
Thank you for following the guidelines that have helped make this the number one windshield repair forum in the world.

Re: Getting Jobs
Brent,
What is the proper procedure to get my book approved for listing on the "For Sale" forum?
Thanks

I guess this is how you hijack a website for shameless self promotion.

Marty,
As I said before, this is really not the place to promote your products. If you search the windshield repair forum you will not find advertisements for anyone's products here. The complaints have already started to roll in for allowing you to post your URL, and then you made matters worse by putting it in your signature. In order to be fair to other forum members I have removed both, and I would ask that you use your signature as signature, not as promotional line for your company.
I understand that many people want to use this website as free advertising for their company and their products, but again that is not what this forum was created for. I hope you can understand that if I wanted the windshield repair forum to be about selling products I would plaster Delta Kits advertising all over the place and start charging everyone else to advertise here. Instead we try to keep the windshield repair forum and all other forums on this board relatively advertising free.
The one exception is the For Sale forum, which was created so technicians have a place to sell used windshield repair products. As the administrator of this board Delta Kits does use the the for sale forum to advertise used products, and issue new product announcements, etc., but other than Delta Kits even the for sale forum is not intended to promote commercial interests. It is simply a place where windshield repair technicians can sell equipment and supplies that they are no longer using. We occasionally make exceptions but only with pre-approval. If you wish to advertise your book on the Delta Kits For Sale forum you need to contact me directly for approval, but even then you will not be allowed to post your URL, telephone number, or e-mail address, but will instead be asked to communicate with other members through private message.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Re: Getting Jobs
No sweat Marty. It was my fault for not having the forum guidelines clearly posted. I'm still working out a few of the bugs on the new board. I don't think anyone was upset by your post, just surprised that I allowed the URL to remain longer than usual. It's all good!
