Refilling old repairs

Occasionally I'm asked to refill an old repair by some of my dealer accounts or insureds. The only ones I'll ever attempt are bullseyes. Unfortunately, my success ratio is only at about 50% in most cases. Just wanted to see if anybody out there has any tech advice on how to increase that pecentage ratio for these type of repairs?

Actually, Starquest, as you know, you aren't "refilling" any repair.

You are either drilling into black unfilled areas or drilling into a starcrack(s) and working backward from the original "repair" in an attempt to esthetically clean up some clown's previous push and go.

Unfortunately, there is no simplistic resolution to your question because every re-repair is different and some impossible. I assume that you do drill in those instances.

If you don't and I don't see how you can't, you must and you may need to drill at various areas.

Your post also drives home the point of the worthlessness of $10 and $15 carlot cowboys whose repairs are as effective as spreading a coat of Aunt Jemima's syrup over a ding.

If used car lot owners ever figure out a way to pump ten cents worth of sugar into a windshield blast that lasts long enough to bypass the 250 mile warranty rather than spend $30 0r $40 for a decent repair, they will do it.

I normaly can redo fom other hacks work if they did not do much in it. I will drill a new hole in a fresh spot as close to the original hole just for cosmetics and use LV reson and pull a long vac, then run it up and let it sit using the probe if needed If needed. Sometimes I will have to break up what the hack did and go from there..
I charge a higher fee for redos and always get it.. They know I will make it look a hell of a lot better. Most of the time it is 90 % gone I till them I can not do any thing about the hacks work, I can just work around itthe BEST I can. They except that.
