Windscreen Polishing Kits
Windscreen Polishing Kits
Hi , Does anybody use the new style glass polishing kits if so which is the best kit to buy, I have had a look at the Delta Web site but I dont think Delta do one . Everyday people ask me about glass polishing ,its an area I wanted to stay away from but if there`s demand you have to look at it . The new system looks similar to a bit a kit i used to de-etch car windows years ago but a bigger version.

If you are looking at going into windshield polishing can I suggest you check your public liability insurance, our insurers decide against giving us cover when they discovered it some time and in my case most times caused distortion, if the driver was to have an accident they could say they were distracted by distortion in the glass, whcih would be or could be your responsibilty. Personaly I find my time better spent selling another repair than spending ages on scratches. Just my opinion and I am some peoples will differ.

Re: Windscreen Polishing Kits
Ive had a bit of success with scratches on a windscreen/windshield by using my Makita buffer/mop at #1 speed with 3m cutting compound and a (new) compounding head and managed to get an mot fail to an mot pass! (took 30 mins of hard graft
) ( UK Ministry of transport annual roadworthy test) on several occasions...also after consultation with Graham (screeny) managed to get a massive scuff out of headlight using all grades of grit on orbital sander ,,starting with 80!! going all the way down to 1000 and then mop with 3m compound and final wax..you'd never know it was scuffed
