making bullseye for repair

hello, i am very new to the windshield repair field and have a question for anyone that can help me. i recently viewed a video on you tube about fixing a crack or star break in a windshield, and the gentelman stated that you need to make a bullseye on any star or crack to make the repair right , is this true. respectfully yours in cali. thanx for any help on this one

He is probably referring to drilling almost to the plastic layer and then pushing the bit the rest of the way through or using a bullseye making tool to make a small bullseye in the break for better resin flow. In my experience you do not have to do that for all cracks or star breaks. I have almost always been able to fill star breaks without drilling. You want to attempt filling any break before drilling because when you drill it will be visible. As for cracks I do drill most of my cracks and make a small bullseye for better resin flow. But there is a couple of ways you can fill a crack. You can use the crack expander on some cracks and feed them all the way accross. But I almost always drill and make a bulls eye at the end of my cracks. I reccomend getting some hands on training with the company you purchased your equipment from so you will have instruction on how they prefer you fill cracks with that particular equipment.

Welcome to the windshield repair forum! There is a great deal of information on this forum from technicians and business owners around the world. I cannot speak for every manufacture’s equipment, but if you are using Delta Kits equipment you only have to drill if the resin won’t flow or to anchor a long crack. May I ask what kind of windshield repair equipment you are using? Also, I have attached a video of a star break being repaired with Delta Kits equipment.

I almost bought the American Windshield kit but luckily I found this site. I don't know if their bridge has a vacuum capabilities, could be wrong. I am very happy with my Delta bridge. My repairs are looking sweet. Good Luck.
