crack repair

Post by rovinax12 »

I was recently talking to a man who told me he had a crack repaired and it totally disappeared. I asked to see it and the windshield was totally clear.I have never seen a crack repair
that did not show a impact , drill mark and a thin line between. Question, is this guy nuts or am I? If theres something better out there, I need to know about it.

It should normally be visible, no matter how proper the crack repair is performed.

I think the guy is pulling your leg. I once had a technician tell me he could make a crack completely disappear, so I had him give me a demonstration. Not only did it not disappear, but it was not even a great crack repair job. The guy made some sort of a lame excuse, probably the same one he uses when he fails to perform as advertised for his customers, and we left it at that. I've had several other people tell me that they have seen cracks completely disappear over the years, but so far no one has been able to prove it. I know quite a few people in this industry and none of the reputable manufacturers even make the claim that their equipment or procedure is capable of such repairs. If someone had that technology I think we would all know about it.

The UB techs go pretty far when it comes to crack repair, I happen to know some, and they take great pride in their crack related work, yet, nobody there would ever claim that it would be done invisible. It is just very, very unlikely and like Brent said, we all would have known about that technology by now.
The one and only invisible repair is to replace and get rid of the glass. That however goes against everything I believe in >being a Repair Only guy.
