What am I doing wrong?

Post by ecratrods »

Ok first PLEASE don't say go to training class. Right now I can't afford to fly out there and also take the time out of work. I have been trying to practice at home well to day I tried a combo break and I could not get resin to flow I could not tell where to start to fill as this break was about the size of a racket ball the center was a bulls eye than it seemed as though the cracks spiraled out. Than I went on to a small star and it looked pretty good except 1 small crack that didn't fill very good? Is it just a matter of practice? You guys make it look so easy but there is an art to it. To all you out there doing this already congrats you earn it! I am going back to practice.

If you are using Delta Kits give them a call and they will walk you through a repair step by step on the phone. My advice is to just be patient with the process and keep doing pressure/vacuum cycles until the desired results are achieved. I have found out that sometimes you can do the first 5 min. pressure cycle then a 30 sec vacuum and the break looks like it is not going to fill. Then when you go into that second pressure cycle it fills almost completely. I still get nervous when I see it not filling immediately but I have found out that if you don't panic it will usually all work out for the best.

Good luck and call Delta on Monday....their customer service rocks!

I have never attempted a break as big as a raquetball. Really not even sure if it can be done but with a break that size you might have to add additional resin to the injector to get the job done.

In a previous post you stated that you have two different windshield repair systems so may I ask which system you are using. Also, I have emailed you my cell phone number and I would be more than happy to walk you through a repair over the phone anytime this weekend, or you can simply call into Delta Kits first thing Monday morning.

On the subject of the training class, should I call for pricing and times or is it ok to talk about that on the forums? I'm not sure if I'll be flying out to attend it or not, being I live all the way over in MI, but I have strongly considered it given all the good advice I've gotten from you guys so far. Seems like a good idea if I could squeeze it into the budget.

Our training & certification course in Eugene, Oregon is held once a month. It is typically the third Friday of every month. The course will cover all technical aspects of windshield repair, and this training can take you from never having completed a repair, to being among the best technicians in the industry. There is a $100 fee associated with the course but the class is free for those customers purchasing a new Delta Kits Windshield Repair System.

Anythingclose,

I would strongly advise you to follow Roo & call Delta Kits.

Those guys will hang out on the phone with you and help you with any issues at hand you may have.
I'm sure if funds are a restraint of yours they could work something out.

Have you watched any tuturial videos via the Delta website? There's loads of info there too.

Always remember Practice makes perfect!
Be patient and soak in as much as you can here on the Forum and try as much hands on as you can.

I have faith you will Master the "ART" of WSR!!!

I much prefer PERFECT practise makes PERFECT. Call Delta, each day you delay is costing you lost earnings for the future, messing around when you have not got a clue is time wasting and demoralising.
