New guy with Questions

Post by homosapien »

Hi. First I'd like to thank everyone who operates and posts to this forum; it has been an amazingly useful and educational tool!

I have decided to start a WSR business of my own. I am not totally new to it as I was briefly employed once doing windshield repair. The employer had despicable business practices and provided almost no training, but this forum and the Delta Kits website helped me a lot in learning how to do a more proper, quality repair. After tons of over research over the last couple weeks I am pretty well sold on a Delta Kit. Anyway, my biggest remaining question for now is about billing the insurance.

I have gone extensively over the ACT website and their "full service" plan sounds great but I just can't see paying $12.95 per job for a service when all I need is to know how to do it myself to save that money. I have established the fact that I need to sign up with SGC and Lynx, and maybe some other networks (what about those other networks anyway? SGC and Lynx are by far the most talked about, do I need to sign up for any other?). Then what?!?! I searched the forum pretty extensively and haven't found all the details laid out exactly. Does one normally call the network or the actual ins co? Then what? What info do I give them and what info do they give me? Does the customer always have to be present and speak to someone? And what do I do with the info I get? It sounds like if it's a job with SGC I enter info on their website, otherwise I use a service like ACT's "EDI Plus" plan. Is that right? What about price? It seems ins companies have specific prices they pay for chip repair, how do I find out how much each company pays? I know someone will probably tell me my questions have been answered before, but I seem to find little bits of info here and other little bits there and sometimes they seem contradictory. What I would love is one detailed explanation of the whole insurance process from start to finish in one place. That may be a lot to ask for, and I am sure I will think of more questions, but any further help really is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, I look forward to being a member of this unique business community.

Homosapien,
Welcome to the windshield repair forum. It is good to hear that the forum and Delta Kits website has been a great educational tool to you and that it has helped you learn how to do a more proper, quality repair. In regards to getting set-up with the networks I would recommend that you call into Delta Kits and speak with Mindy because she has helped a great number of people get set up with the networks.

Ok, thanks, will do. I saw that advice (about calling Mindy) elsewhere on the forum too, but just thought it might be easier for her or someone else to reply on the forum at their leisure instead of being bothered with a phone call. I have some other questions already (not insurance related) but need to go so I'll ask later. Thanks again.

At Delta Kits we are never bothered by the phone calls. Some questions can easily be answered by posting on the forum; others require lengthy explanations and can be answered easier with a phone call. Also, when you’re a newbie you tend to have more than one question.
