Pits
Pits
sometimes I have a problem with my pit filler. I wait till it gets nice and hard go to scrape it off with a razor blade and sometimes pull it out of the pit as well. I try and be careful when i scrape it and generally it works just fine but every so often it just pulls out of the pit and I am still left with the indent of the impact point. any ideas on how to fix this? should i let it cure longer or not as long??

Re: Pits
What Pitfiller are you using? Did you clean the impact point (with your probe)? How is the condition of your UV Light? Is your UV Light 12 Volt or battery operated?
You may also want to clean/'dry' the pit, wiping off any uncured repair resin before you apply the pitfiller and clean the impact point (in between filling the repair and applying the pit fill resin). You see; there are many questions before your questions can be answered.

Re: Pits
Be sure you are scraping with the blade at a 90 degree angle and make long smooth strokes across the pit area. If you cut rather than scrape (blade angle) or stop in the center of a stroke you may not get a completely flat surface. However, if the resin is coming out of the pit you either have bad pit resin or a hydrophobic coating on the surface. If you are using Delta Kits resin give us a call and we will walk you through the appropriate steps to identify and remove hydrophobic coatings. That is the only thing that I have seen that will keep our resin from sticking to the glass and in that case the resin will typically come off with the curing tab. You should not have to be overly careful when scraping excess cured resin from the surface so you are holding your blade at the proper angle it sounds like a resin problem to me.
