ACT or no ACT that is the question

Post by Jbrodie »

Here is my question ACT or no ACT?

I was talking to another windshield repair guy also in my area the other day, he was telling me he gets an average of 20 insurance jobs a month thru state farm insurance, I mean they contact him they fax him the info and than he submits an invoice when he is done. He does not belong to a third part that does his invoicing for him. I signed up with ACT and I have never recieved a job thru safelite network or any other insurance company.
My question is if I get out of the ACT system, invoice my own jobs, and sign up with safelite, lynks and the other insurance companies (which if anyone has a list it would help me out) would that increase my chances of getting more insurance work?

This is a contiuation of my question.

My question to keep using ACT or not is very confusing to me. If I cancel ACT and go it alone does anyone know how long it takes to get set up with Lynx, State farm Safelite network. If I'm signed up with safelite and lynxs thru ACT if I cancel ACT will I still have to reset up with them or would they take my information from my ACT account and transfer it to my own account with out ACT getting my fax? Can anyone give me a list of insurance companies and what network they use?

Thanks in advance

It is my understanding that if you choose not to use ACT anymore you will maintain your status with Lynx and Safelite, but I'm not sure that has always been the case so I recommend talking to ACT. Be honest about why you are thinking of going a different route. They may be able to find a better solution for you and should definately be able to tell you if you will need to sign up with Safelite and Lynx again if you discontinue to use their service. Be honest with them and I'm sure they will be honest and helpful to you.

ACT used to provide a list of insurance companies so you could also ask them about that. If they will not provide one for you we will post one here very soon as this is a frequent request.

jbrodie, sounds like the tech may have an agreement/good relationship with local agents. I don't use ACT but if you drop them I don't see your referral count changing due to the referrals coming directly through the billing networks. In 4+years of billing I have only received 1 referral from SGC and it was way out in the country.

Jbrodie,

I like your eagerness to learn!
I'd like to comment on your questions above in my own personal experiance if I may.
I am an ACT account holder as well. Before going to ACT I had went through the process of setting my Co. Up w/ the networks.

We recently ran through a situation to where State Farm denied my Co. Application approval. Now what that means is my Co. Isn't on State Farm' "Preferred List" of glass vendors.
Basically we can't do State Farm Claims under their warranty umbrella. Honestly after speaking with them on the phone I'm not sure we want to....
Reasoning for this is 1.We haven't had "Training" 2. We weren't certified and 3. Honestly I think he was bias to Delta Kits due to his asking and reaction to the system we use which is Delta Kits!

I said all this to say this, First you sign up w/ State Farm through the Lynx site in the Matryx portion. If you take a look at some previous post here you will begin to realize that;
Its not wise to rely on the networks sending you work. We have only been sent one. And it was from Harmon and it was a replacement. Now the problem with this referral is we don't do replacement! LOL
Thus far ACT has done a great job and from others experiance here and around thr globe has tried Direct Billing and found it is a HASSLE! Its a time process and you must stay on top of it.

You may want to chat with SGT here a little about the "Direct Billing" as he's delt with it himself and could shed some light or fool for thought to you on this subject.
I would follow Brent' advice as well and call into ACT as they may be able to help you with your concerns or questions.

Please continue your ventures and keep the eagerness alive! Its been great ! GOOD LUCK

Act will furnish you a list of Insurance companies that do not waive deductibles. They told me that there are way too many to list that do waive deductibles. I use that list and it works well for me and I update it myself as I go.

Act has three or four different programs available to you and each has it's own price. With their best deal, they will pay you immediately after receiving authorization to repair rather than waiting for the insurance company to pay them first. Waiting can take two to four weeks or more. It depends on where your priority lays, paid immediately and pay a higher rate or wait awhile and make more money.
