I have a vehicle with a cracked windshield and I also have a replacement windshield for it. My question is both are encapsulated and the replacment windshield has a few areas in the encapsulated molding that is cut or small chunks taken out but only on the backside facing the vehicle, can this encapsulated molding be repaired before I try to install the windshield? or can an encapsulated windshield be installed by using some type of sealant to fill the voids in the damaged molding?
It's hard to say without photos, but if it will not be seen from the outside of the vehicle after installation the voids should be sufficiently filled with Urethane. It is also possible to rebuild damaged sections of the molding with Urethane prior to installation, but unless there are large sections missing I doubt that will be necessary.
