It happened to me today! While discussing with an individual that asked me about repairing his windshield, I asked him to call his insurance company (Allstate) regarding the repair ( I gave him my business card).
Even though I have been registered with Lynx for some years and have been enrolled with Metrix since shortly after its inception, the representative would not approve of me to repair his windshield. The rep instead scheduled him with an appointment with Eagle Glass in an adjacent city. So much for the honesty and integrity espoused by Lynx.

That's why three way calls are a good idea. I have also heard of some technicians who now record calls as well. You have to check state and federal laws to make sure you do it the right way, but if they know the call is being recorded and you are on the call as well as your customer it tends to keep everyone on the up and up.

I always make the call for the customer, give all the vehicle info. to the rep. and then give the customer the phone. They then usually ask when it happened, where is it, do they want me to do it...etc. then I get the authorization # and get going. They have tried to steer in the past but i generally warn the customer and let the rep know that they chose me to do the work. It has worked great for me to do it this way

Re: Lynx Steering?
Well guys, you may or may not know it, but this happens every day to many, many vendors around the globe.
I do not want to sound rude, but you should never trust any network, esp. not the ones that are in bed with SL or their family members (or even worse, the one owned and operated by BR). It indeed is best to record any call you make with the network and bring on their all wrong steering habits whenever it occurs to you.
Just type out the conversation and publish it one way or another. That is real bad publicity and it is probably the one and only thing that will teach them a lesson.
Networks are not in business to help YOU. Networks are pretty useless and I am sure that any insurer will be much better off without.
Unfortunately; most insurance companies appear to be blind and deaf when it comes to savings in our trade, and we all know why that is right?
