Safelite Glass netword "steering"

Post by bullseyeben »

I am in the Lunx network, but not safelite because i have not been business on my own for over a year yet. But have never had them refer anyone away as of yet.

But in the last two days i have had an oddity with safelite calls that has be wondering. Yesterday a Farmers insured and today a AAA insured both came in to have a wsr and I called the network to get it started and when they were talking to the customer they said they "could not verify coverage at this time". That it would take up to 24 hrs to verify. So the customers left to come again later after it was verified.
Well yesterday the lady left to never return, but today the AAA insured when he was leaving got a call from the network and told him that coverage is verified and to use another company.

So are they using the unable to verify as an excuse now to get the customer away from me so they can call him and refer him away a little later?

has anyone else seen this?

Customer is in front of you car is there and the resin cost of a repair is about 50 cents why not do the repair?
Call the next day for the info 8 out of 10 will end up being paid and who cares about the other 2?

Or call after you have started the repair. The customer has requested your service and has the legal right to take their car to whomever they please as long as the cost is reasonable and customary. Like GlassStarz said most of the time the claim will be approved and the repair paid for by the insurance company, but my experience has been much better than an 8 out of 10 ratio. If the customer has full coverage on their car and does not have State Farm insurance I don't recall ever receiving a rejection. If I did receive a rejection I would be making some phone calls.

Just do the repair like everyone else has stated. they will usually call me back the next day... if not call them back and say its already done, never had a problem this way

I like the approach to start or complete the repair before calling. I got burned last week while repairing a windshield and was approached by another person I asked them to report it to their insurance...where they got steered... so I'll not get caught again.
